Looking at Changing to Kings SL front and SSL Rear.

Those who have done this have you told insurance, Is there a need to.

Its not like the wheels are going to be sitting under the guards and I would hope the springs were painted black so If I ever had to make a claim, would they notice?

Couldnt I just say that's how it was, they must have sagged :spoton:

I am just worried that when I call to ask that:

1) I get rejected and funs over before it begain

2) They allow but I use up 1 allowable mod and might reduce the chance of being able to get 19's, exhaust and edit down the track

I am in Sydney and with NRMA, first year of insurance under my own name.

Cheers

Aidan

Tell your insurnace company mate, not telling them is only asking for trouble.

If your insurance company is only going to allow 3 mods find another insurer. There are heaps and heaps that allow unlimited mods as long as you inform them. :spoton:

NRMA will allow a vehicle to be lowered no more than 30mm. If you lower your car without telling them then you can be quite sure they will spot the different coloured springs very easily when it comes time for a claim and then you'll be in some hot water. If you are purchasing SL's and SSL's then I'd suggest you tell them that the car is only lowered 30mm not 50mm.

When it comes time for a claim they will see different coloured springs as they already know but if the car has been damaged badly then it maybe quite difficult for them to identify whether they are 30mm or 50mm lowered depending how thorough they want to be.

In the end it's all up to you with the risk you take.

Aidan, as Benny has pointed out already, the King Springs are definitely a different colour - they're bright yellow mate!! :nono::spoton:

The herrod springs are black just like the stockers. These are king springs as well.

Of course you pay 100% markup for the paintjob.

Just did some searching and found that the SL are 50mm and SSL are 60mm

So they are both over the 30mm requirement of NRMA.

I think I will let insurance know, tell them 30mm and paint them black before fitting.

Thanks :spoton:

No matter what a long as your modifacation is legal what is the worry? Ie retains 2/3 of original travel and the vehicle is not lower than the legal amount

How legally can NRMA or any one else Void your insurance for a modifacation that is deemed legal by the RTA or department of transport and road safety?

After 25 years with NRMA they dropped me instantly when I told them I had 9" wide wheels on the rear, and yet they are perfectly legal. Just ring them, don't give a name, and make an inquiry, then you'll know how you will stand

I cannot believe that!, what a joke and here I am trying to do the right thing by my insurance and hope they treat me right so I can form a strong bond for situations like what was just mentioned by Barry Blue. Obviously it dont mean jack squat!
