The factory clutch only just copes with the stock power output - try flat shifting a couple of times and observe how spongy the clutch becomes. My car used to chip 1-2 gearshift - that stopped after less that a week of driving it.I'd rather pay for something that will cope with 100% more torque loading, even if I never achieve that kind of power output.By the end of this week I'll know how well I've spent my money. So I took decided to do some hard take offs / practice runs 0-100 on my g-tech. When I took off relitively hard but not too high RPM off the line the T went hard then when I grabed 2nd the wheels squeel to about 80km/h then grip and I go etc...However when I loaded it up to higher rmp and tried my hardest take off's I would barley move at all and my shift lights would flash at 5000rmp so I change to 2nd and same thing barley moving at all and NO wheel spin until shift lights again. Only way to start moving is to back off completely and start again. And the clutch smelt really bad (I pretty sure it was clutch smell). TC was off. Im assuming this is major clutch slip? I dont usually get it because the car isnt usually going as hard (awsome night the car loved cold air etc)... If this is clutch slip im experiencing does it mean my clutch is now damaged and im never getting my full power potential even when I cant feel it doing it (car not moving) or is it just when I go really hard and it slips that its slipping? Thanks For your help!! After its cooled down slip the clutch a bit in 2nd gear 2-3 times allowing it to cool down after each time and it'll be right as rain.Youve got a similar problem to the rest of us. The difference is that youre trying to get the clutch to grab the flywheel from a disengaged position while we're trying to get the clutch to hold on to the flywheel from an engaged position. The one and the same symptom is a pressure plate that is too weak to do the job. 250+rwkw is plenty more than me so you'll notice the same problem as I have in the higher gears as Im betting youve never tried it. Try 2000rpm in 3rd, 4th or 5th and give it wot (wide open throttle) and watch the revs climb while the speed doesnt relatively increase when it hits the boost sweet spot.Max

There is abit of a shudder upon releasing the clutch on take off's , but it can take the abuse.Ph: 02 9526-5322
Max Power Member 381 Member For: 20y 8m 17d Location: MENAI, NSW Posted 04/07/05 10:01 AM Author Share Posted 04/07/05 10:01 AM Just a report on the my clutch upgrade install for those interested. From the thread, I went with the xtreme ceramic cushioned clutch and 1500kg XHD pressure plate.I have a few problems;I now have shudder when taking off in 1stI also have driveline vibrationThe pedal feel is about 20% heavier which, depending on the individual, may or may not be that much of a biggy. Its also not a progressive feel like the standard both in the in and out. Its more of a bell curve in terms of pressure where maximum pressure is at the 80% travel distance before the pressure tapers off. The pedal feel now does give you a reassurance that its working better. There is no more clutch slip as was before with the standard.Ive talked to the mechanic who installed it about the driveline vibration. He thinks that the flywheel and pressure plate need to be balanced and suggested that I speak with xtreme and get their take on it and try to get them to foot the labour bill for the pull down again.I'll speak to them tomorrow and keep you posted.Max
