Slipping Clutch In M6

How long will the Mal woods clutch last before it needs to be replaced?

The drivelines are the real weakness with these cars in manual and auto so it seems....

All cars are given drive trains to suit their original design - cause it costs less.

At least now the 6 speeds are strong, just need to put in a strong clutch. The next issue seems to be Universal joints.

Called Mal Wood today. The clutch setup I'm getting is costing around $1900, including clutch plate, pressure plate and flywheel, plus fitting. It's the biggest single plate available, next option would be the twin plate, but that doesn't appeal to me.

Big bickies, but worth it I guess. Stock clutch is now slipping over 10 psi so I've reverted to the stock tune until the clutch arrives.

JB's old clutch is rated at something like 800hp and is only $800 from racebrakes plus install...

the clutch I was refering to was basically just an uprated pressure plate (about 40%) and different clutch plate, made by Xtreme...I have emailed the guy and he said he's sold quite a few for BAs with no complaints...it will of course cost you about $300 to get it fitted so about $550 all up...

I emailed horsepowerinabox several times and, to get to the point, the $220 kit was never mentioned. I was quoted $495 for the xtreme kit which includes an organic clutch and 1400kg pressure plate (40% over OEM). When I asked what they recommended for my performance mods, I was told to use the xtreme ceramic cushioned clutch and 1400kg pressure plate for $695.

I then rang xtreme, thinking that I'd go right to the source. I was quoted $735 for the ceramic cushioned clutch and 1500kg XHD pressure plate (50% over OEM) being told that for the future planned 300rwkw mods I have in mind that the 1400kg pressure plate is on the limits. So Ive ordered the XHD kit and am awaiting delivery.

After making a few calls have been able to get the clutch for $1310, plus freight and GST. Clutch kit as per my previous post.

Should have it installed and fitted end of next week

Whe I had my ute Mal woods gave a few of us a bulk buy price of $1100 for clutch and flywheel kit if we bought 10 units, or we had to pay for was fitting....thought that was apretty good deal.

Be sure to post your opinion of how it compares to the standard. (Things like feel, pressure to push the clutch in, if it bites any differently when the pedal is being pulled out etc etc).

Bloody oath, I hate it when you spend big dollars and then there is a catch (ie the heavy duty clutch is a pain to use eg.)
