When I was in my early 20s I bought a 700hp Cobra Race car - had so much fun in it, racing at last once a month. I had no wife ,kids to worry about - and living at home gave me enough to pay the car off pretty easily.

Now I am 35, just scrapped enough together to buy the Turbo (to tow the Cobra with!).

My suggestion - buy what you want now and enjoy - keep it! and buy a house, cause once you have a house, wife and kids, it gets a lot harder to buy the big toys. I would never be able to get the purchase of a Cobra passed my wife - but as I have it still - its fine.

Great to see young guys like yourselves getting into a nice car (in NZ they are all jap imports modified - still nice, just not as nice). Just be careful - and keep yourself in one piece.

If they are 19 and can afford a T they must be one of the 3 options:

1. Work in IT

2. Inherrentance or rich parents

3. Drug dealers.

I would suspect option 1 for most of our young T drivers :spoton:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I am a surveyor and I earn $65,000 a year plus a company car and I got that when I was 22, and I have owned my T for over 1 year now. I also have to take out $4000 a year for HECS, so when that puppy is payed off, I'll get another $70 a week back, and my T only costs me $150 a week and I will own it in 4 years.

I'll be married in two, own two carrs in four, and be buying my first house with my future wife witn a combined income of over 120K a year, not that hard really, especially when you have a company car so we can buy one brand spanker (Typhoon) between us! :spoton:

that's assuming I never get a pay rise (including my other half), but we will so it only gets easier LOL!

Congratulations.

You are doing very well.....

I have never met anyone earning that sort of cash that young.

I've been around the traps, working since Uni for at least 15year and at present in charge of an IT Dept with 5 employees and I don't even earn that sort of cash now...

And as for Overtime... that is very much a thing of the past. No-one in our Firm gets overtime AT ALL.. It is expected.....

That's the shiat Yoot! I'm 24, G/F is 22, we have nearly finished building our second house, I have my XR6T and the g/f has her relatively new Barina. I work as the Marketing Manager for an IT Vendor and don't have a degree of any sort although industry experience and a good understanding of the realities of business will get you far.

Collectively we earn over $100k easily and once this damn house is finished, I'll be playing with my money for a bit.. how u ask? MODS TO THE T! (FINALLY!) :pooh:

Those that take smart, calculated risks get ahead. Simple.

At 24 I'm already look at investment portfolios, thinking of Super... heck if I want to retire early then I need to get crackin!

Congrats to all the younguns with their T's have fun and play safe!

Houses must be damn cheap in Melbourne then... Can't even sniff at the market in Sydney unless you have 300K to spare.... and 300K is one hell of a BIG morgage....

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

My office isn't in the city in Brisbane so I am lucky to be able to purchase a new 4 bedroom on 1000sqm for $300K here, although I'd honestly prefer to have somethign 10 years old with pool, established garden and extra features for $270K in some areas within 10mins of the office. As for the GF? We only need one car so she can drive the Typhoon/Liberty GT/SR5 Hilux or whatever takes my fancy to work! I'll stick to my company car.

The less I have to borrow the better.

You Eastern States people need to get over to WA and snap up some property!!

Me and the missus have 2 places close to the city.. 3x1 villa (investment property) 15 minutes from the city and our place - 3x2 house 10 minutes from the city and we bought them both for the combined price of just 435k... granted this was a few years ago and they're worth a bit more now but compared to the prices you guys are paying in the East for similar its a pittance.

We over here in WA can't comprehend how you guys can afford the mortgages?? Do the banks have different lending criterias over there??

Also - and I know I'll get some stick for this, but I just can't believe some of you young blokes are buying expensive cars instead of ploughing the money into something that will make you money rather than the money pits that are cars.

My investments have always come before cars... when you have built up some capital then treat yourself....

My 2c worth only

No, no different leanding critera, but I do kick myself every day I think about the fact I turned down a job in Perth 3 years ago, cause I wasn't interested in moving at the time.

Company was offering 75K for the job in Perth, with unlimited travel in Asia.. I think it was the travel that turned me off.......

Listening to you guys, I should have been able to live like a king....

Up here in QLD we dont have to show P Plates , but if see a young guy in a XR6T or XR8 I just give him a Nod because most of us P platers that own nice cars are not stupid hoons and go street racing on friday nights, look for guys in beat of old VK's with a 308 and home made spoliers IMHO, I work hard for what I own and I wouldnt risk losing it.
