Sorry not trying to start a riot, I am glad you guys have what you have always wanted a new FORD. But its an attitude like, should I or shouldn't I turn off traction control in the WET that causes death and property damage to other people. I am 26 now and when I see younglings on the news dead from road crashes I don't feel sad for them , just the people who might have been hurt around them. For example a family in their new BA falcon Wagon, having a youngling hit them up[ the ass and damage the car the family needs and can't really afford but have to have. See what I'm getting at its too late when it's already happened and never Get stuck thinking IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME. Coz in a car as good and quick as a T it most probably will if you don't mature yourself to the same level as the pricetag of your new car.On a happier note ENJOY your ride though, its a FORD whats not to be happy about. envi240 Member 113 Member For: 20y 6m 7d Posted 19/06/05 02:38 AM Author Share Posted 19/06/05 02:38 AM (edited) I am 19 and have just picked my 3rd XR6 turbo up.I am lucky enough to have worked hard for ford for 3 years now (after finishing high school)now although I can see why people have these feelings for p platers in sports cars, but the stereotype of p platers driving like idiots is just that a stereotype.it comes down the person behind the wheel.if you have respect for the car you drive and you are smart about what you do then you are at far less risk then somebody who is careless behind the wheel,I think a big problem with p platers is when they carry 2-4 other ppl with them, at that age peers can be the worst thing you can have in your car.showing off and proving yourself can become deading not only to themselves but to others in the car and on the road.I do agree with being careful behind the wheel but there is no need to banter p platers as I am sure they have heard it before. the best thing I ever did was take the car to the track and learn how the car reacts and hanldes under a controled enviroment. there is no point testing things on the road as it is not worth dieing for.as for being able to afford a car like an XR6 on your p plates it does not matter if there mum and dad helped them out as I am sure there mum and dad had to work hard for it. I worked hard for mine and I know if I had a 19 year old son or daughter I would rather them in a car with 2 - 4 airbags abs traction control and the handling of a modern car. rather then getting a 2 door sports car with non of the above.import cars are getting so cheap now you can have a car the weights in at 1300kg with as much power as an XR6 turbo for around $10000 so at the end of the day which do you think is safer?any car can kill, does not have to be a turbo or a v8 or a supercharged car it comes down to the driver behind the wheel no matter p plates or not. Work in IT2. Inherrentance or rich parents3. Drug dealers.I would suspect option 1 for most of our young T drivers I am a surveyor and I earn $65,000 a year plus a company car and I got that when I was 22, and I have owned my T for over 1 year now. I also have to take out $4000 a year for HECS, so when that puppy is payed off, I'll get another $70 a week back, and my T only costs me $150 a week and I will own it in 4 years.I'll be married in two, own two carrs in four, and be buying my first house with my future wife witn a combined income of over 120K a year, not that hard really, especially when you have a company car so we can buy one brand spanker (Typhoon) between us! that's assuming I never get a pay rise (including my other half), but we will so it only gets easier LOL!Congratulations. You are doing very well.....I have never met anyone earning that sort of cash that young.I've been around the traps, working since Uni for at least 15year and at present in charge of an IT Dept with 5 employees and I don't even earn that sort of cash now...And as for Overtime... that is very much a thing of the past. No-one in our Firm gets overtime AT ALL.. It is expected.....

When I was on my P's, the car to own was a VL turbo. They were selling for around 15-17000 back then, and that was considered alot of money for a young bloke to spend on his first or second car. With the CPI it all adds up to about the same. Don't forget that in 1983 you could buy a house in melb for 35-40000 dollars, now that same house is worth 300-400,000 dollars.
