I will give it a test at WSID when I return. The guys at MRT have really been coming along in leaps and bounds in recent times with their tuning capabilities, worth a look if you ever want some work done.ENVI,The bonnet has been great - all the latches were already built into the glass - havent had any probs at all. Posted 15/06/05 01:00 AM Share Posted 15/06/05 01:00 AM How much does the stock bonnet weight compared to these ones?Whats the saving?Surely it would make at the very least a slight difference to the cars overall balance? (for the better).

They would have to do this or proove by computer simulation to have the cars re-certified but I'm sure they would advertise that widely as the cost would be huge. Not only the risk of the bonnet going through the screen but airbag timing is an important consideration when you alter the front structure that affects crumple in an impact. my 2 cents. Thanks for the comments on the car - I have been working pretty hard to get good look for it. As XR6T has said - it looks much better in the flesh!Hopefully I can catch up with some of the Sydney T crew in the near future.Phil
Guest Guests Posted 16/06/05 11:26 AM Share Posted 16/06/05 11:26 AM (edited) Hi guys to answer a few questions herethe fibreglass bonnets weigh approx. 8-9kgs, the original comes in close to 30kgs.we make the bonnets that Intune Motorsport sell (actually we are the only manufacturers of the AU/BA bonnets, GT kits etc), plus all of the bodykits Intune sell.the front latch can be adjusted to where ever you wantconcerning legalities, the bonnets and how they are made have been checked over by a licenced engineer and he was actually impressed with the process and structural strength. the bonnet will not come flying into the cabin with an impact, it would only crunch and crack I unfortunately have tested out the strength of the fibreglass bonnet on my own AU XR8 ute and a few things -the fibreglass bonnet was not on my modification list with my insurance and all NRMA's issue was that they will only replace it with a genuine bonnet and not a fibreglass one as it wasnt covered, they had no other issues with it.cheersAdamAuto Web Concepts www.awcinfo.com Edited 16/06/05 11:30 AM by falkeen
