Beware - CGU and Swann are effectively the same company; both owned by Insurance Australia Group. (Altho policy conditions can be different).

They were trying to rip me silly. Their premium was ok but the fine print sucked, if I had to make a claim I was not going to get my moneys worth. So off to RACV I went.

I had my old EF Fairmont Ghia insured with Swann and they were snakes. I was told I could perform three mods to my car. So they were sound system, exhaust and lowering.

I rang them each time and told them what I had done and even faxed receipts to them so they knew everything had been done by a qualified mechanic. Then all of a sudden I was informed via phone call that 'our policy has changed' and I have to return the car to stock or the premium would go up...!?

that's when I switched to Just Cars. I have had two not at fault claims with them with my XR6T and they have been pretty good I have to say. Both times they were quick in getting the car fixed and let me take it to my choice of repairer. Give them a go maybe!

Hey, sorry to hear about your bad luck mate!

I went through AAMI and my insurance broker could not knock them and couldn't beat the price so I went with them. Haven't had a claim with them yet so can't comment on the claims experience though

I am with Wesfarmers and they run rings around all the other mobs I have been with. I have never had a claim from an accident but I had a truck spray my car with stones in a 60 zone where they had just layed the stones. I was doin my 60 and he was doin 80 or more. I had the roof, bonnet, front guards, and bumper sprayed and they payed it no ifs no buts, cost just under a grand.

Big thumbs up.

To have my car insured commercially costs me $1000 if I had to insure privately was $850.

Two days later a letter arrives refusing to renew my insurance because "I don't fit thier risk profile" I WASN"T EVEN DRIVING THE F'N CAR!!!

$3000 for the first year for insurance

$2000 for the second year

$1600 for the third...

$4000 worth of damage and I'm too much of a risk?

3000 for the 1st year!! that's a fisting..

when I owned a T it was only $1800 per year and I live in Potts Point Sydney which is considered a high risk area. I have also been suspended from driving 3 times. Never had a crash though

I'm with NRMA, and if it's available up there I think they might be a good choice for you also sixfan.

They don't take your NCB away for accidents with animals, thefts, or even if someone left a massive scratch on your car without leaving a note.

I'm with them for the animal hits

I'm with NRMA too, gotta love the protected rating 1. Used to be with AAMI and they were pretty good too. Had a lifetime rating 1 and were very good in the event of a claim (when my wife just clipped another car). Service was great, fast repairs (and covered by lifetime warranty), etc.
