Guest turbosixsilvia Guests Posted 28/04/03 02:15 AM Share Posted 28/04/03 02:15 AM Just seeing who is interested. There has been a bit of talk about how some of you fellas haven't come up against many imports etc and how they are slowvia's or something along those lines. I think it would be a good idea to have a 1/4 mile day against the nissansilvia.com site so that way you have hardcopy who you can and can't beat from the import scene. It would also be a good day to maybe promote both sites or something along those lines and have a friendly chat with fellow car enthusiasts??? Anyway the nissansilvia site has members australia wide as im sure this site does so maybe one person per state could organise if in fact you guys were interested at all?Reply to the thread if you are. I've left a post on the nissan silvia site just then to see who is interested. It can only be as good as you want to make it. ie. Go down to your local track during off street drag nights, get a time. If my time is faster than yours, then I win.4) I'm yet to see an unmodified S13/S14/S15 at a drag meet, where as 99% of XR6Ts have yet to go under the knife.Sort those out for us, and we’ll be there. A forum member here actually owns both a modded xr6t, and a modded s15.. maybe I can offer to drive one of his cars ?? (hehe - c'mon kris - you know you want to)One other thing you guys have to consider in this is your warranty. if ford find out you take your cars on the track - you can kiss your warranty good bye. And dont say its not true. I was talking to someone yesterday who lost his warranty, because he did a driver training course, and the ford dealership found out about it. Guest turbosixsilvia Guests Posted 28/04/03 04:47 AM Share Posted 28/04/03 04:47 AM "Just wait till there are a few modded 6Ts or other wise you're going to get eaten."I don't own a ford, I own a s13 silvia which is currently getting an r32 skyline six dropped into it. "There are a few problems with taking your idea and making it a reality.1) The cost of hiring eastern creek/'insert track here' is beyond us."You don't need to hire thanks mate. That's why every wednesday nights they have test and tune runs at willowbank and eastern creek. Willowbank $30 for as many runs as you can fit, Eastern Creek same for $45. We could easily meet at the track and do some runs. Sorry if you misunderstood. "2) Who cares about 1/4mile racing against silvias/200sx/180sx anyway3) There is no need for direct racing anyway. "Some people don't share the same view as you, if fellow enthusiasts are gonna talk themselves up then why not give them a chance to prove it side by side? It makes it more entertaining and the fact is that it could of been a good time had by both parties but obviously you have a problem with this and can't see the fun side of it. The xr6t puts out a lot more power than most of those imports and I only expected the severely modded ones to beat you down the line. I've been in a number of car clubs with forums and sometimes its good to go out and meet other car enthusiasts and do something you like while your at it. There was no personal attack or anything aimed at you so how about taking things a bit more lightly next time and trying to see the fun side of it as I was merely suggesting what could be a day out that people might enjoy.Thanks. oh xr8chic, I have a friend with an SS Late model camira and he gets his mods done by his dealership and they are aware that he takes it down the 1/4 and it hasn't voided his warranty. Maybe it's different with Ford or maybe his dealership is just leanient or something. There was a thread on ls1 forum a while back where they said people from Expensive Daewoo were going to the drags and taking down rego numbers of the cars competing, presumably to try and discredit any drivetrain warranty claims. Otherwise this just doesn't happen for "ordinary" people.I agree it is good to get a bunch of enthusiastic guys together to have a spot of fun and exchange ideas etc. But I also agree basically with what Esky stated because we don't want this to get outa hand or turn into a competitive thing - that can be done down any dragstip anywhere, and then show-off the time slip. And further to what XR8chic and Falchoon said about "spies" - insurance companies have also been known to show up at publicised "events" and take photos of car's number plates. Redhawk ....Time to lay this fairytale aside...... Donating Members 2,657 Member For: 22y 3m 11d Gender: Male Location: In the Ferry on the River Styx, not getting out just yet! Posted 28/04/03 09:34 AM Share Posted 28/04/03 09:34 AM Although I wouldn't put it past a dealership to worm out of a warranty xrchic, I would argue venemently about an advanced drivers course being an excuse to void it, hell if it makes you a safer driver they should be rewarding you not penalising you, my 2c's worth. Also a advanced drivers course would be a lot less stressing on your car than what Motor and Wheels mag drivers put the cars through (and those blokes get paid for it and are 'wine and dined' by the car makers too!).
