HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 1m 20d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 30/04/03 01:38 AM Share Posted 30/04/03 01:38 AM To me fitting a lumpy bonnet is no different than fitting 18" wheels, leather trim, scuff plates or sports steering wheels etc, which like the bonnet, are purely for looks and add no performance to the car whatsoever. But they put a smile on your dial, make you happy and help you to enjoy your toy. Hmmm,S**t, I'm sorry I opened my mouth along with Dazz. I was only thinking about the XR8 bonnet simply for ease, looks (leaning towards the subtle approach, not standing out like dogs balls with some ugly scoop that does not suit the car). It's function will be room for a cooling system once I supercharge this baby. THAT's ALL!!! This is all going to happen possibly in a years time when hopefully we are a lot more financial. Personally, there is not that much difference when glancing at the two bonnet shapes. To me, it would be a far easier option to say "bugger it" and remove one bonnet, attach the XR8 bonnet, done. I don't want some d**ky looking scoop or any other 'ricey' accessory, it's going to look crap on a modern masterpiece like the 'BA' series XR's The XR8 bonnet is designed for the BA XR8/GT/ GT-P/Pursuit. It looks the part.Totally agree with Dazz on this one.End of story, end of subject, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...However :alien: it may seem. :D

Guest IMTRBO Guests Posted 30/04/03 03:31 AM Share Posted 30/04/03 03:31 AM yeah I agree but what is the functionality behind the xr8 bonnet on a turbo version xr6 you not going to mount the turbo on top of the engine ??????
Dazz Member 26 Member For: 21y 8m 2d Gender: Male Location: Central Coast Posted 30/04/03 03:46 AM Author Share Posted 30/04/03 03:46 AM The functionality would come of you wanted to use larger diametre intercooler piping and get rid of the flat pancake style crossover on top of the engine.I haven't done the exact measurements to see how and exactly where the XR-8 bonnet increases the area, but by looking at it, it would be pretty much where you need it. Guest IMTRBO Guests Posted 30/04/03 04:42 AM Share Posted 30/04/03 04:42 AM good point dazz but if you were going to do those cooler piping wouldnt you relocate the air intake from the right and run it straight off the turbo , and then run the cooler piping from the cooler to the throtel body around the engine
svtang Member 40 Member For: 21y 9m 19d Location: Melbourne Posted 30/04/03 06:35 AM Share Posted 30/04/03 06:35 AM :o DAZZ you promised mate ..... the TT's hey?! An admission : I'm glad that my XRT ute has twin pipe exhaust outlets like the XR8 and Pursuit .. looks gutsy anda bonnet bulge looks great on the dog's Cobra B) but that's how they came .... and I'm one of these people that acquires the article for not only performance but also looks ... the XRT looks fine to meif I was doing serious mods on the XRT I'd get a fibreglass bonnet like the Cobra's and then I'd loose a few kilo's (instead of putting extra ones on) .... a fibreglass rear deck as well (on a sedan) with a serious statement of a spoiler .... heck the sky is the limit !!!yeah ... it's hard ... but for me I would have bought the XR8 if the bulge was occupying 90% of my brain lolcheersoh ... ps .. the boss220 doesn't get a bulge does it? why ? Dazz Member 26 Member For: 21y 8m 2d Gender: Male Location: Central Coast Posted 26/05/03 09:09 PM Author Share Posted 26/05/03 09:09 PM Still haven't decided yet, plus I'm waiting on a few things to fall into place before putting my order in.With delivery time still at a few months, and with the brake shudder issues and a few other problem things people seem to be suffering, I'm actually thinking of putting off ordering 'til later in the year when these things sort themselves out.But I still like the look of the XR-8 bonnet so it's probably 60/40 at the moment that we will get it.
