I think for me to actually do this it would require someone to really want my car and pay the price im after. There has been no inquiries about buying the car so it looks like it's not going to happen. I can't say I'm disappointed though cause it would have been real hard to let the car go.

Looks like I better see whats involved with running 9's.

Geea. :nono:

Sounds like you need a new challenge Craig. The V8 sounds like the bigger challenge, but will it be quicker in the long run than the turbo?

Buy an XR8 and purchase a nice screw blower, don't waste your time with a Vortech.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Had much experience with Vortech's?

I didnt see any screw type blowers at Horsepower Heroes this year, but I saw plenty of Vortech's making over 1000 hp at the wheels.....

Screw blowers are old school, they are very difficult to intercool efficiently on the street.

Look at all the Mustangs over in the States, the majority of them are running centrifugal blowers.

If you do go screw, you will have to cut a rather large hole in your bonnet.

I don't see a problem with that!!!

:D

The thing is, when it comes to supercharging, nothing really beats a positive displacement supercharger....

The reason is that each cylinder will get the exact same amount of air (heaps) every single time it combusts (ie, all bypass valves are closed, WOT that is...)...

Its instant grunt.... Think about it.

How long does it take for a valve to close? that's how long it takes to make close to maximum torque, anywhere in the rev range, with a positive displacement charger....

And some of the quickest street driven stangs I've ever heard of in the states (ones that aren't advertised on all the semi rice websites people seem to get there information off) are screw charged....

Not to mention the whistle that a screw charger gives off... It's out of this world...

So go for it geea; see if you can get away with having a bug catcher hanging out of a GT...

  • Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be.....

Must admit I reckon Mick knows a thing or two about supercharging the nuts off (20 or something lb?) a V8 :spoton:

Lumpy :spoton:
