Hey guys, I am just after some feedback on the following "end of financial year" runout special.

Car: Demo MkII XR6T Sedan

Year: Late 2004

Kms: under 500km

Trans: 6 Speed Man.

Colour: Vibe

Options: Premium Sound, CSA 18inch rims (look awesome with Vibe), Tint, Big mouth cold air intake, high flow filter, XR mats.

Also comes with 5 year warranty.

Price: $42990 drive away no more to pay!

The car is a demo and all aftermarket options were done by the dealer. The Vibe is not the best colour but it looks bloody nice with the rims and tint.

Is this too much to pay for a 2004 built car??  :gooff:

Cheers!!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I paid 47k for mine (leather and premium sound) which was when they were getting rid of mk1 before mk11. other than that, stock. that price sounds good.

Sounds like a great deal to me.

But as suggested - knock them down a bit further - or get some extra options for free (eg Sports Steering wheel or tow bar etc).

Does the car have the options that you want (ie manual vs auto descision, Leather, do you want 18s, performance brakes, and so on)

There are a lot of options - get the list - and decide what you would buy - find out a price of your ideal car, and then decide.

They are great cars as you know, and the Turbo will be even better for you. Good luck!

Sounds like a great deal, but as the other guys suggested try to get it cheaper, my trick for my car was to offer $6K less than the deal that the dealer was trying to push on me. The dealer said no way, I said I'm not moving, the dealer then ran away talked to some other guys and then said will you settle with $4K off the price we quoted??? I agreed and basically got all my extra's for free...

So in your case try offering $36000, chances are that they will never agree with it but they may turn around and say how about an even $40000 or $39990 (as they sometimes like to do). Take their offer (make sure that they give you a drive away price) and bang your now only having an extra $7000 more on the loan not $10000...

Dealers are there to sell the car, they will still get their slice of the pie (they'll make sure of that) and as long as you don't budge much (eg they may try the "we've got 2 other people who also want this car" to get you to buy it) you can probably get a fair amount off...

Just my 2c and good luck... :tease:

and if you still have the original wheels - keep your wheels off the fairmont as spares for the new car, or sell them! Same goes for SVO snorkel etc - may as well keep anything that doesnt increase the trade in value. (or sell it privately to get even more).

Is this the one we were looking at a while ago mate? For a few grand more you should be able to get the same thing brand new in the colour you want so id either knock them down atleast another 3 grand or work on a good price for a new one.

Yea it is mate, I thought they sold it but they advertised it again this week.

After thinking about it for a day or two I have changed my mind. But I recon if I dropped in to have a look at it on Wednesday night after work, it could have turned into an impulse buy! :fool:

42 990 is a fricken great price for a demo with less then 500km on the clock......Im sure you could screw them down maybe a grand more but the car is already great buy (IMO) for a Mark2.
