well I caught up with a mate last night, I was able to extract a little info on the mentioned driveline combo...

He has driven the new auto in the xr6t, he doesn't know the power output of the new xr6t, but mated with the new auto, he said the thing is an absolute rocket, he thinks it's faster than anything ford have currently got on sale.

His described the auto as being a little weird in the way it changes gears, almost not being able to feel the change occuring, almost cvt like.

that's all I was able to establish...

exciting times.

I have a mate who works @ Prodrive and I was fortunate enough to take a nice long cruise in a GT with the new 6 speed installed for a rough testing life :)... He's pretty secretive about the things @ Prodrive but I asked the right questions... :stirthepot:

Needless to say it was smooth and very nice... I was most impressed with cruising down the highway @ 100 ks and sitting on 1500 rpm...

On a side note I took him for a spin when I installed my ShiftKit and he was suitably impressed... with my brakes (PBR Kit)... and he's one of the brake guys @ Prodrive so he's use to Brembos and the like...

I should have known he was going to hit the anchors *hard* when he got behind the wheel heh... needless to say I nearly headbutted the dashboard... I forget how good the brakes are as all I ever really do is feather them lightly...

Seriously? That's higher geared than the Commodes! It means a diff ratio in the order of 2.6:1 if my info on the transmission ratios is correct. There's no guarantee of that of course!!

I had heard that Ford are bringing back a 9" diff - NO, not the old 9 incher, but similar in pinion and ring gear dimensions. This allows for higher ratios without sacrificing strength/durability. I was expecting something like a 3:1 ratio but 2.6 .... f@rk!

cdm> I'm told the box is going to be very very close if not identical to the Jag's. The ratios for the Jag are:-

4.17

2.34

1.52

1.14

0.87

0.69

With a 3:1 diff this would give 57km/h per 1000rpm in top - this is about what I expected ... BUT from what Miyagi has said ... 66km/h per 1000 rpm in top if it is doing just 1500rpm @100km/h.

With the manual 6 speed you are doing just under 2000 at 100k in 6th, which is ideal as it is just under where boost seems to kick in, so a touch over and the boost kicks in (for safe overtaking of course on a private driveway).
