Why would they need to know about exhaust? what would be the difference?

Except maybe boost cut.

No brand new capa unit.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

This is what I have gone through.

I had my tunes done by Simon from Xtreme over in WA and after getting the edit back putting it in my car went out on a "private" road smoked the tyres like nothing, ran perfect. Took it out on the highway put my foot down in second gear got to 4000rpm and it started to ping, started losing power, overboosting.

The only difference mine had to the other cars he had done was a XR8 snorkel. So I blocked it off and hey presto, powers back no pinging, boost is normal and everything was as he said. You have to remember that by doing the exhaust you can get an extra 3 or 4psi more than the car is programmed to causing the car to run lean and start to ping.

This is from my own experience anyway.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Shouldnt you send it back so it can work with your 2nd cai?? Im sure Simon would want to fix that for ya.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

He hasnt done one with just a CAI and he doesnt want to send me a tune unless he can guarantee no problems. I have a set of 968's I want to fit soon anyway so I'll just wait till he gets a car with injectors to do R&D on then I will get another tune off him to suit the injectors and CAI.

To tell you what is happening,

I am using edit to start as a base program and then using a piggyback computer to fix the air/fuels, boost and timing. Just wanting to know what I should be expecting from the base 8 and 10 map.

Problem is there is a flat graph line after 4000 rpm on the dyno

Yes the engine has upgraded valve springs.

Can't think of a reason for this?

The issue? You are using the piggy back as well....

Dump the piggy back, get the EDIT tuned properly and you will make more power, its that simple.

you can run the standard tunes with 2nd cai and exhaust (gap your plugs of course)

I have run mine and my brother in law has the same set up and runs it no problems. no special tunes needed for yur 2nd cai. it s always good to get a custom tune, but to say you cant run it if you have 2nd cai and an exhaust is nonsense. It works fine!!!

I can't see that a 2nd CAI would make any difference to a custom tune and visa versa.

I've closed mine off and re-opened it a couple of times with no noticable affect.

I have a CAI and the centre muffler removed. I've gapped the plugs and haven't had any issues in running the 10 PSI map.

When installed in early January, the car made 265RWKW on a Dynologic and 255RWKW on a DD dyno.

I am only speaking from MY experiences, Simon had one other car with the same tune mine has with a CAI which did the same thing. The car would not run properly with the cai period. He fixed it for him straight away but I have to send mine over to him to fix. Since I blocked the cai it has gone perfect, no pinging, smokes the tyres at 3500rpm anyway so it hasnt really bothered me, keep the intake blocked and I have no problems. Like I said in a previous post, I have a few other plans for it so when I am ready to do them I will retune it properly. For now I am happy with the car the way it is.

Sorry bout hijacking the thread, Ive made my point.

Stock Exhaust, 2nd CAI.

Custom 10psi - 256rwkw at 4900rpm (no power above 5000)

Custom 8psi - 241rwkw at 5600rpm (pulls hard to 6200)

The 8psi is the superior tune for stock Ts, get springs and injectors for the 10 and a stringer clutch/automods.
