An easy way to fix a sqeaky belt is to get a bar of handsoap and with the engine running, let it rub on the inside of the belt (the side with grooves).

Be damn careful, it will take your fingers off if you *beep* up.

Note for complete d1ckheads (if applicable), don't use laundry powder or liquid dishwashing detergent (thought I had better mention that).

Suggest you get SWMBO to do the job, she won't miss a finger or two.

I had this one to, sounded a little like the old loose fanbelt prob. Went away once the car warmed up. I annoyed the crap out of me.

Dealer fixed it up at the 15K service, said they replaced one of the pulleys holding the serpentine belt as the bearing was rooted. Common problem apparently.

Done another 35K since and no more issue.
