I think for some reason if you remove the rear muffler it drones, I could be talkin out my ass, but I'm sure I heard someone say that once...

Yeh I was wondering that too... that's maybe what the differnce is when removing the rear muffler opposed to the centre.

I removed the rear muffler on my XR8 and it droned pretty bad. Never tried the centre though.

Have full custom stainless steel dumped at the diff now, not really droney, just extremly tough!

I think the main reason why the centre is removed is due to noise. Both Mufflers are quite restrictive. Also if you keep the rear muffler standard your less likely to give away modds.

Ozzie

Yeh true!

Im looking at making flanges up so he can unbolt the pipes and put the muffler back on if need be.

Guys I am picking up some of these from XR2DY4 tonight and was wondering how hard it is to do in the driveway with 1 side of the car jacked up???

Has anyone done this or should I use ramps or axle stands or just get the exhaust place to quickly do it???

Cheers

I'd just go to an exhaust shop, make your life easy, you can do it yourself though, I'd put it on ramps, it will still be a tight squeeze

Good Luck :spoton:

Sorry guys, first post and noob to XR6T`s, with removing your center muffler have you done anything to the rear muffler at all??

Nope, just leave it... some go for a different tail pipe though, twin 3inch pipes can be welded on to the stock rear muffle and look nice.

Or alternatively do a search on how many pages there are discussing the merits of quoting the post above.

Just got it fitted at Exhaust City in Cheltenham, $30, so I am wrapped with that.

Once question is as soon as I left the place it felt as though the car was missing for like 2 seconds and after that it seems to be fine.

Is that the car just getting used to the different pressures in the exhaust or is it something more sinister???

Cheers
