its almost common knowledge now to have the hotdogs fitted on a sedan be it manual or auto.. but I know what your saying about the exhaust shop trying to tell you otherwise, mine tried to do the same thing..

Glad I didnt listen at the time!!

I had mine made up in twin 2.5"s with mandrel bends so I could have it ready for when I got the rest of my exhaust done also with a 3inch body 100cell act fitted at the time. Car had that nice crackle under decel and drone wasn't an issue.

I'm now running a full twin 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with 2 hot dogs in the centre, a john bowe performance rear muffler, 4" dump, 5" high flow cat and the car sounds abit like a deeper version of an R35 skyline only better ;) only thing is it drones under load (going up an incline) at 110kph with abit more onboard weight in the car.

Only seems to be a bother going up inclines when we are going away and the car is loaded to the tilt.. not enough to worry me at all.

Pros outweigh cons.

Update: So just got back from the muffler shop, they have chucked my centre muffler. I said what about a hotdog they said they can do that or put in a 3" resonator? which he reckons is the same as a hotdog but does a better job.. can anymore comfirm or deny this point? it's going to cost me an extra $100.

ok yeah it appears I may have just misunderstood what he was talking about. the thing he showed me had a chamber inside and was baffled up like a muffler, then he also pointed to a chrome tube piece that was basically straight through bar some "mesh" type steel running down the centre.

and

ive no idea if these are essentially the same or not.

also I apologise for my rather primitive description, my knowledge of exhaust products is extremely limited as is apparent.

This is just a round muffler straight through packed probably either either should do the trick , the hot dog is not packed I believe and is just a straight through pipe with perforations to bounce the exhaust flow around abit.

The round muffler will be quiter then the hot dog I dk how the sedans exhaust is but if you removed a muffler is it not 2 pipes in 2 pipes out where if you just put a muffler in further down stream would be a restriction rather then 2 hotdogs where the muffler was removed maybe someone who has done this on a sedan might comment

yeah when I had a look under the car it came off the cat and split into 2 x 2 1/4 pipes then back into a single 3" so my the mod was just the single piece of pipe into the rear muffler.

Anyone in Perth have a stock centre muffler floating about?

The new T I bought seems to have had it removed, and it sounds like absoluty shyt to me and is too droney/airy sounding and loud so I'd like to put a stock one back in.
