If they dont at least keep up with the new LS2 engine, with the power level that will be in the SS later this year, I will be moving to the dark side.

240kw will be a bit of a joke if the SS in Sept/October this year is putting out 270kw+, has 6 litres, and goes like a rocket.

If the XR8 cant keep up with the world, I say time to get rid of it. (Better yet - make it have some decent bloody performance!). No way its lack of balls should be used as an excuse to hold back the XR6T.

Too true grasshopper.

Add extra KW to T, make for poor sales of GT :pinch:

How about they put the Falcon range on a Diet to make the thing quicker. Then they'll stop and corner better. If you've had one a race track, you'll know where im coming from.

Maybe they'll bring out a turbo coupe to rival the monaro?  Boost the power to 300kw.

I heard a rumour that the Monaro 2 is not going to be released, sighting financial reasons, you see where as Expensive Daewoo Australia is doing very well the rest of GM is battling. it's market share has dropped from 40% to below 20% with a 4 billion dollar total loss on the Fiat fiasco not helping.

I don't think they will.

1) We sort of have a 300kw gentlemans agreement, if you raise the XR6 power you leave little room to fit the FPVs and the XR8.

I don't know about a 300kw gentlemans agreement, Expensive Daewoo haven't gone over 300kw because they don't believe the VT shell can cope with anymore then 300.

There's something to be said about the power war between Ford and Holden. Only recently we all witnessed what happened when Ford/ FPV made a big deal publically about the Typhoon. The Government wanted to step in to speed limit locally made high performance vehicles. Yet HSV with a less public fanfare are getting away with higher power outputs. Its about how you are going to introduce higher output models without hitting the "public" panic button. The public image of "Turbo" enhanced cars has a lot to do with it and some of it understandably after some pretty serious "ricer" accidents in Melbourne not to mention the 2 fast 2 furious crap. Expect Ford to tread very carefully in the enhancement stakes, as we all know they are quite conservative. Personally I think the "T" will stay exactly where it is, it was a very successful "experiment" (Ford couldn't even be bothered giving the Turbo a distinct visual identity!). Ford will attempt to continue to fight V8 with V8, that's where the Australian public still is.

One thing I am guessing is that the T will get the phoon clutch.. way to much money was spent on it just to be used in one low volume vehicle, you spread that cost out amongst the higher selling T and it becomes a little more feasible.

6 Speed auto = slightly better acceleration fro same power and slightly better fuel consumption + gottohave factor = improved sales and lasting appeal. Cost probably up by $1500.

All valid points, even if the MkIII stays they would have to up it in the all new falcon if it has a T in the range. Its evident the T can handle a slight power increase with the F6 at 270kw. Even at 245-250kw mark with an all new gearbox and as time goes by improvements will come. But we cant stay at 240kw not if the ss is to get more go..
