YCL:

my F6 had a very noticable bearing sounf PRIOR to the clutch fix. It was noticable up to about 2-2500 rpm. It is called bearing rollover noise.

I sh*t you not but since the TSB clutch replacement there is no (repeat:) no sound at all!!

I hate to say it but it is a characteristic of this box but ford do have a fix for it. I hope for everyone's sake they apply the noise fix to all xr6ts

one thing I do notice is the shift quality when cold is still stiff but loosens up beautifully at running temp.

I have the clunker 5sp in my Blown BA XR8 Ute with Mals 11" single plate and steel flywheel, no noises here at all and no slippage yet either.

Although 3rd gear pisses me off still.

Small update on my noisy box.

Ive done 1800km's now and the noises are still there.

Took it into the service centre.. "It's within specifications".. Went and took the test drive car for another drive and noticed it was in that aswell..

Its funny, I never noticed the noise hen I was using the test car the first time.. Guess I was too excited about the power of it to notice!

As you have been told Frank, the noise is transmitted noise from the engine. This is in part caused by the solid centre clutch plates that were fitted to the clutch to make it bulletproof under its' original buyers usage, and in part caused by the tune. Your kit was purchased second hand, before we developed our new 11" clutch kit. We have PM'd you and left you phone messages, we had one of our prototype 11" units set aside for you to try, but you never returned our calls.....Ben.

I guess that's the price to pay for having a strong gearbox. Mine's a little noisy at idle, but I'd rather put up with a bit of noise and have a strong gearbox than one that fails.

LS1 Commodores suffer from the same problem as well but the noise is never an issue. Probably less noticeable due to the lifter noise they suffer from :P

Hi Ben,

Ben to this day you have never told me that it was related to the clutch/flywheel, if I had know this I would have changed to a difrent clutch system.

I have had no phone messages left from you to this date if I did I would have returned your call. The noise is terrible and I don't intend to lie about it when asked by people considering this conversion. The tune has nothing to do with it as I mentioned before it has been on two diffrent cars with various states of tune, even with standard tune and it still makes the same noise at the same revs same load.

If you want to call me Im more than happy to listen to any soulutions you may have, this is why I drove to QLD to see if you could fix the problem.
