One issue I have is that sometimes on gear changes and and cornering is a knocking sound from the rear of the car. Its a manual sedan by the way. It doesnt always happen and I cant remember hearing it on downshifts, only when shifting up through the gears. It doesnt always do it and definately only does it very rarely when cornering. I had the vehicle RACV checked and they didnt mention anything about it. This is also the first manual ive driven full time in a few years so it might be from sloppy gear changes every now and again? Has anyone else had this problem or got an idea what it might be? The vehicle is still under warrenty but im thinkin it will be better if I can go to ford and actually tell them what the problem is instead of just saying "Theres a noise in the back". Cheers guy! One which is common, 'Backlash'. This appears to be normal in the explanation of ford. Some have it worse than others. Mine also suffers from this a bit but once you get use to the change of gears, you can hide the noise most of the time. There would be quite a number of members here that do the same and are also experts in this practice. Some have succeeded in getting the diff and other bits changed, but has resulted in a minor improvement or in some cases, worse. You have chosen a great car but as always when doing so, there are some things that arnt quite right.CheersClay Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/17791-rear-knock/#findComment-255681 Share on other sites

My mates dad was saying that this sort of thing can be quite common in manual performance cars. It not a huge worry, I was just concerned that something might be really wrong but if its just a noise then that's not too much hassle.Really love the T though, big step up over my AU1 Forte that I traded in for it.The new one is Mercury Silver with BA XR8 18"s and Premium Sound (Im not a huge audiophile so this will do for the moment). Definately love the car Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/17791-rear-knock/#findComment-255684 Share on other sites

Posted 22/05/05 11:52 PM Share Posted 22/05/05 11:52 PM I had a similar problem and it ended up being the K? section at the rear of the car ( basically the chassis arse end ) was all loose and required tightening. It was more noticable in turning at 30 ks an hour, almost like transferring the weight from one side to the other.
