BlueXR6Turbo,

You can do this! You have to press one of the buttons in for 5 secs. Hav'nt got the manual with me but I think its the volume control. Anyway the display goes to sleep and only comes back on when you touch a button, well it does on the Premium Sound anyways.

Yes, I already know how to do this. But that's not what I want. I want it to be in night (dimmed) mode, but not off. (I.e. the display to be the same as it would be if the headlights were on, but with the headlights off)

I would love to get more myself. With all the probs ive had with the car I think they should come standard with the car. I'm gonna hit up the boys at Ford and see if I can get an overnighter with one of these manuals.

Did this ever go any further, I would also be keen to get hold of a copy (Scanned, PDF, photocopy - don't mind really). Is it possible to buy the manuals ?

I haven't actually seen one yet, but you can normally buy the Factory manuals from the dealers (spare parts). I would probably suggest siiting down before you are told the price though.

The three workshop manuals are worth around the $300 to $400 dollar mark. They are also available at the fordworkshop.net website in PDF format. All you need to access them is a registered Ford tech with a valid STARS Id.

Potai - Australian rules prohibit low mounted fog or driving lights being used as or with low beam. The only exception is in adverse weather conditions such as fog but they must be turned off when another car approaches as with high beam. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) however are permitted to be used with low beam because they are a lower intensity beam and are aimed differently. I believe only very few cars, top BMW and Mercs for eg, come into Australia with DRLs but NZ has an abundance of imports so it's very possible that the rule is to covers DRLs and not fog lights - not sure. Plus, the XR fogs are aimed terribly high and really only blind drivers when not in fog - same as Subarus and Commondores.:)

As stated earlier in this topic potai is a New Zealand boy and the rules are different there.

I got that Lights On feature by Ford.

I thought it was only the front lights that turned on, and only the parkers at that, but it's actually the low beam lights as well as the parker lights at the back. A bit too much sometimes.

Ford should have made a switch for it at least so we can switch it off when we want.

xbcoupe> Fog lights are not required to be turned off when approaching oncoming traffic. But they must only be used when atmospheric conditions restrict visibility. I don't agree that the XR fog lights are aimed too high - all the ones I have seen are actually aimed downwards far more than is necessary and to be properly effective they do need to be aimed up a little from the factory setting - certainly the SS ones are the worst for glare to oncoming traffic.
