The noise goes away once the exhaust pipe warms up and expands. Does this sound similar to what your experienceing?Dazza.
igsta Member 371 Member For: 21y 3m 5d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 20/05/05 05:25 AM Share Posted 20/05/05 05:25 AM I had this problem. Turned out to be loose bolts on the turbo manifold. Its worse when cold, then when it heats up it expands a bit closing where the air is escaping from. Take the heat shields off around the turbo and tighten all bolts. Fixed my problem you guys are talking about.

Guest crushx69 Guests Posted 22/05/05 02:46 PM Share Posted 22/05/05 02:46 PM What can I say it is a nice car to drive plus with work a get around quiet abit. So have given it quiet a workout and must say only for the turbo problem and a water pump seal that is all that has gone wrong with it. I am quiet happy with my car soon will get series 2. Guest PSIXR6 Guests Posted 23/05/05 09:54 AM Share Posted 23/05/05 09:54 AM Yes this is a common thing to happen on turbo cars, the flange bolts to come loose after time, and do need to be checked. I do believe it read it in the cars sevice books that a certain checks they must inspect and tighten the exhaust flange bolts.

It usualy only happens once in a blue moon.. but for a bit of experience I decided to have a look at the turbo manifold just to see if there were any loose bolts..Gettin the heat shield off 2 min ( easy part )Checked all the bolts, they were all fine.. When would be the best time to check these bolts??? First thing in the morning or after the T has been runTrying to get that bolt back on in the heat shield... an hr..... Could not get it lined up plus it was so small.. must of only had about 1 1/2cm of thread on itAhh well took it for a spin afterwards and gave it a right old flogging and no fluttering this time... And all my hose's stayed on cikas
