At lunchtime I went and looked at a Local Ford dealers demo car which has been lowered quite a bit - and the tyres have rubbed the top of the front guards, though not excessively.  Anyone else having tyres rub once lowered?

My car has got King SuperLows all around, have had the tyre scrub the guard twice, first time was trying to get out of a very steep driveway, the second time was under heavy brakes through a hairpin corner on a rather spirited mountain downhill run. :spoton:

guys just got a tow bar installed, when I checked the specs for the xr6t it stated that max towing capacity was only 1200kgs.  does this mean the t would be no good for towing say a caravan?

Apparently the 1200kgs limit is on the standard "class 2" towbar ford offer. Hayman Reece(??) offer a nice big "Class 4" unit with 2400kg limit. that's what I'm supposed to be getting.

The 1200kg limit is in place - if you broke a clutch or gearbox, and Ford proved it was related to the over weight towing - your warranty would be void.

though - they should easily cope with more than this - just be gentle on takeoffs.

Apparently the turbo's are the weak point in these cars when it comes to towing. that's why they don't offer the factory 2300kg tow pack on the T.

A guy I know told me his mate is on his 3rd turbo after cooking 2 towing his race car around.

Anyone heard anything similar?

Oh bugger - I hope that isnt the case. Where does your mate live? Some hot part of Aus? I guess at least it is much cooler here in NZ- would that be the problem - too much heat?

Sounds like crap!

The only thing limiting the towing capacity is the clutch in the manuals.

I tow my ski boat, and I've had no problems. If you put it under load / or go up a hill, put it in performance mode to take out the overdrive, and there are no problems. If you floor it, & use 6psi while towing a boat or heavy load, then you deserve the turbo to blow up.

Although you do need the rear view mirror while towing, because without it, you wouldn't even know you're towing 1.5 tonnes.
