Hello boys,

Can you guys help out a newbie, I'm considering the APS phase 1 kit. I know that it's about a 60kw increase at the flywheel and that with the Phase 1 kit this includes bigger injectors, but......

How much real difference is this from standard?

Anyone had any problems?

and how does this effect the warranty or insurance?

Ive got APS Unichip (most of phase I).

Insurance - I simply informed AAMI, who had no problems with the mod, they amended my policy to include it, no extra charge.

Warranty - IF the extra torque/power of any modification leads to part failure then you may not covered for that part and labour. If the part appeared to be faulty from factory then you may be fine.

Power - a very noticeable increase, both on the dyno and seat-of-the-pants. It feels like it's from factory its that smooth.

I'll be the first to say it, why bother with Phase 1????

Get an Edit and your away. Most guys have 235-250rwkw with Edit only! Quite superior really and then get a set of decent larger injectors (along with valve spring upgrade), get re-edited and your away.

Good luck anyway :spoton:

Too early to know with Edit. You can switch maps back to stock so unless they check the date that it was re-flashed and check that against their records, then apparently should not be an issue. Some dealers are even offering Edit.

That said, most frown on it and Ford's stance is they do not like it at all. :spoton:

APS phase 1 should give you around 230-240 RWKW I think....I reakon edit is probably the better option though. more power for less money and its less detectable

I got a phase 1 and a week later got phase 2.

After phase 1 I had approx 230 - 240rwkw (cant remember now) from std of 190rwkw.

After phase 2 my car is at 272rwkw.

Phase 1 is something you WILL notice out on the road.

I have never been back to Ford for servicing..err, I've never been anywhere for a service as the car only has 11000km on it (service due at 15000).

As far as insurance.. After changing insurance providers because of mod's, I saved $400 per year on my premium....IE: I saved $400 a year because my previous insurance didnt allow mods and I then had to look around for the best quote.

Which ever way you go...another 40rwkw is well worthwhile.

awesome.

By the way I went for a ride in R33 Skyline with the boost at 14psi and there is no way it goes fatser than a stock XR6 T. I had to pretend it was fast becuase he is my best friend (and took him years to save up the money) and I didn't want to burst his bubble that skylines are faster....

Chooch, I have just Edit, no injectors or other stuff, and you can feel a bloody great difference :spoton:

Would imagine a Phase 1 with Injectors should be even better :censored:

Or you can go Edit with Injectors, or just keep on going :funnydance:

So has anyone ever had any trouble with warranty stuff after having any of these mods done?

nope, they can communicate with the PCM as normal, they won't know the difference.

if they reflash it, well then you're fecked, but just ask them not to flash it.

Dave.
