Thanks ZapXR6T,

Let us know how you do with Bendix pads, If it resolves the issue, I'll get them too.

What I wonder is that if GT owners have the same problem, cause these so called premium brakes are the standard ones on FPV GT only the color and the log being different. It is black with Ford logo if it comes with XR6 & 8 as premium brakes and it is blue with FPV logo on GT.

Well I don't have premium brakes yet I still get the squeeling. I do however, have a fairly late build Mk. I and never had ANY shudder - so I am guessing they modified the brakes to not shudder but squeel instead. :-)

Wash the brake dust off, this seems to work for me. The squeeling only started after I bought the premium brakes package.

It is only a temp fix though as I get a week of driving before the dust builds up and squeels again.

Brett.

Any one know what a set of ultimates for premiums is worth?

Is front only needed to stop the squealing or rear as well. I haven't listened to hard, but I think it's only the front that squeals on mine.

Thanks

Chris

I have a fairly late build Mk I  XR6T (got it September last year).  Never had any brake shudder, but...

1.  There's a squeel when brakes are applied lightly.

2.  There is a slight rattle on sharp bumps, like rough bitumen, or train lines, which sounds to me like caliper rattle.

Is it worth taking it to Ford service for either of these problems for fixing under warranty, or will they say it's normal?  I did a search here and found messages about the squeel.  Did any of you get it fixed?

The rattle you are reffering to could be your centre cap on your alloys. I had this after my tyres were rotated, and the clip that holds them in place is a tempremental  The caps on my 18''s are a pain in the a$$ to fit back on.

If you feel the cap, put pressure on the centre and move them side to side. Even if the movement is very stiff, this will translate to a rattle ovewr less than perfect roads. And the springs are not sold seperatly, you have to buy the whole cap, but at 50 bucks they can go and get f'ed!

Hope this is helps

Thanks, I'll look. and if that's what it is, surely that's covered under warranty?

Try the left foot light brake application over bumps though...my rattle stops when I do this indicating brakes.
