Thanks- for both of your input and suggestions. I'll take it for I drive this weekend with a mate-armed with video camera and hopefully get something useful. I will also take it to a trusted mechanic and get them to check the cross member studs. Failing that I will PM Ralf and see if he can lend a hand. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Well look what I found. A thread with the exact same problem is me. the only difference is that mine happens every time I turn left into my driveway.

A clunk sound from the back left. It is starting to drive me bonkers. After readying about the air vent in the boot, I might look at this when I get home.

I also have this problem in my fgx sprint. Very annoying sound, It’s like everyone else’s, sound comes from left rear of car at slow speed on takeoff. And also up and down my driveway. I will be contacting Ford tomorrow to see what they can do.

Just a follow up, after taking my car to Ford they have ordered a diff replacement under warranty ragarding the noise I was hearing. They carried out inspection, bearing tyre noise (clunk)  and using chassis ears diff pinion is noisy.

Well well well here I am years later after this thread started with the smart clunking noise and no-one has found a definite answer 🙃.

My noise is a clunking at low speed (carparks), turning into my driveway and also while going slow up very steep inclines.

My car is a 08 xrt fg falcon Ute

Hopefully one someone will find the answer

Hi I need some advice

I own 2003 ba gt.83, 000 km

Knocking noise or sounds like something loose

Got centre bearing and rear bushes all replaced as car felt like it was floating at rear.

After replacing rear bushes still have sound at rear driving me nuts.

Spoke to mechanic says when new bushes go in something you can hear think s probably there before new bushes. The problem wasnt yhere before new bushes but now sound ay the rear.

Any opinions please

Not sure if this is the right place as I think my noise is different, but here goes.

FG G6. Driving down motorway today, smooth road at about 100k, big metallic clunk from what sounded like left rear. Then about 1km later, again, then nothing.

Got into city and it started banging and clunking, always metallic. Got out and checked, it's now at the mechanics.

Replicated it for him, put into gear, nothing, drove forwards, stopped, put into reverse, big clunk, back into drive, little clunk, reverse, big clunk etc.

Ideas? Sounds back leftish.
