I'm going to be getting either a Davies Craig or B&M tranny cooler soon (these are the brands I've heard are best. If you have heard otherwise please let me know!) and was just wondering which is the best way to hook it up.

Could you tell me(or even better, post a pic) how it is best hooked up to the original lines(I think they screw into the rad with hydraulic fittings don't they? Do the coolers come with the right parts for this?), and whether its in series, parallel, or replaces the factory cooler all together...

Thanks guys!

The Davies Craig coolers only come with a 3/8 hose, which you have to cut a small section out of the top steel transmission pipe, flare the steel line, & by using the hose & clamps, then re-route through the cooler. By placing it in the top hose, the oil comes from the gearbox, through the radiator, then through the cooler & back to the box.

After you have done this, it's best to also check the level of the fluid in the gearbox.

I mounted my cooler under the intercooler, with air intakes cut into the plastic shield under the car. I hop this helps. :spoton:

Awesome. Thanks mate. Is there a simple tool you can buy to flare the pipe or do you have to take it somewhere to get done?

I'll probably do an oil change on the tranny at the same time with a good synthetic oil (any recommendations?). Can anyone tell me where the fill and drain points are? I'm assuming the fill point is on the bottom of the pan?

Thanks

I am also thinking of getting this done in the future but saw a great place to mount it was behind the top grill above the intercooler plenty of cool air goes in there.Just a suggestion.

how does this affect the radiator cooling if you mount it there.

Its only been on a couple of weeks so not really sure but the transmission man reckons it will be ok. Air still passes through the cooler so the radiator still gets some air
