Free Flow Cat

Guys I'm looking for some much needed advice...........please!

Prior to upgrading injectors (currently CT edit) want to free up the exhaust in the cheapest possible way. Other than the centre muffler mod (hotdogs) the system is stock.

Put simply will installing a free flow cat make a noticeable difference or do I need to go for the full 3" upgrade, or something similar. Given the difference that a hypothetical cat "gutting" can make I was hoping a cat replacement would do the trick.

Has anyone gone down this track and if so which cat and how much.

BTW only looking to go to around the 270rwkw.

Cheers :stirthepot:

Steve

In theory the cat is the main restriction, the back pressure is provided by the turbo itself so the difference between a 2.5 inch and a 3 inch is minimal wrt flow. The big difference is in the noise made. Being that the cat HAS to be there it would probably be wise to go bigger, or maybe even twin? (can this be done?)

For some reason there never seems to be much forthcoming when the cat threads pop up... I wonder why?

I was looking at fitting the 4" metal substrate jobby from SMB.

Someone here has one I'm sure. looks good, and being 4" and metal, I feel should do the job. They do a 4" dumper too..

Pricey though..

" Secret Mens Business "

Pix are exacto as from "intune motorsport" so I would guess they are connected in some way ( guessing??? )
