I ask the question coz a neighbour just bought a 2nd hand MkI XR8 ute and his paint has a gold fleck, while my MkII is a blue fleck.. He asked if anything had been done away from factory, and was told no. :spoton:

I have a MK1 ute and its a blue fleck, I dont think I have ever seen a gold fleck before...I asked my sales guy after my tail gate was hit if the blue was in all the blacks and he said yes. If its gold its not standard to my belief.

By definition Silhouette is black with a blueish tinge.

So if it's got Gold in it, it's another colour.

Is the gold all over the car or in certain areas? If all over then a whole re-spray has been done but that would seem weird. Or maybe ford ran out of blue :spoton:

Trust me. as a long term Silhouette owner who gets obsenely close to his car (see wash counter) the fleck is blue.  Any gold (a la WRX Sti Black) is an impostor.

I can look up the paint code if the forum really wants it...

cheers

I'm not questioning this.. the only reason I asked was I didn't know if there was a difference, but it's clear that the blue is factory.. we both have the same ST paint code and he was told from the origional owner that the car hadn't been changed or damaged since purchase, but somethings not right somewhere.. we're only trying to work out how this can've happened. A vehicle inspection by RACQ showed no signs of damage repairs.

I know a supplier of paint to ford for paint touch-up and silouette has not changed since its inception.

so ifs theres two cars with two different colours, one has been changed.
