Guest AussieCJ7 Guests Posted 25/04/03 06:06 AM Share Posted 25/04/03 06:06 AM Hi All,I have spent most of the afternoon reading your board,I was very exited when I read about the release of the XR6T I have been verry dissapointed with ford since I sold my EBII that had all the XR6 engine parts plus a few I went off a and got the slowest machine on earth a Jeep CJ7 Renegade, very cool truck but I need 2 days to get anywhere.Anyway it is time to lease a car for work and looking for a car that the family will be comfy but still has enough go to make it interesting.I am 90% sure the XR6 is the machine and most likely the turbo.Going for a test drive this weekend but wondering what option you guys think are the ones to get.I have read all about the brake problems and noticed the NSW coppers ordered their XR6T with the premium brakes due to these problems Do you think this is option is worth the money ??What about the premium sound option ???Does anyone have the Sat Nav option I always get my hire cars in the US with Sat nav it is great when in a strange town but really depends on the system they useFor the premium brakes do you need the 18" wheels or are they part of the pack ??? Anyway let me know how you guys would option your XR6T ???? Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/1751-what-options/ Share on other sites

Some people have problems with the standard brakes and there are althernatives available from companies such as DBA. Ford are said to be working on a fix for the brake issue also, so l dont know on this one.The 18" alloys look great, depends if you want to spend $1500, some people are just as happy with the looks of the 17". You dont need to get the 18's for premium brakes but you do need to option the spare alloy. l would get the spare alloy regardless of if you order the brakes because at $380 its a cheap way to have a 17" rim and tyre. Read the thread Charliewool stared on his experience with the standard 16" steel wheel also, not good. An alloy spare should be standard.l havent got Sat nav or ever used it but whether its worth it would depend on where you live. If l lived in Sydney l think it would be valuable, as l live in country vic l think it would get used very infrequentley. Also consider the sports steering wheel, adds a lot to the feel of the car. Worth $700, l agree its a lot but l would spend it again to have the wheel.Good luck, and definetely go the turbo. Guest Crusty Guests Posted 25/04/03 01:06 PM Share Posted 25/04/03 01:06 PM I got mine stock standard with no options and am over the moon.My budget was used up on the sticker price and didn't have any change. The standard sound system is pretty good and no complaints with the standard brakes so far but might've chosen the leather if I had a few extra k.Just make sure you get a decent immobiliser (outside the factory one) cause I reckon these babies are gonna be more of a theft target than the WRX.
