While it might not be the cheapest solution (although its very close!) on the market, the new straight fit cooler offers considerable design advantages over anything currently available. Most notable is the properly designed and aerodynamic end tank design which reduces pressure loss across the tube and fin core.Installation is simple, with one small area needing to be ground (see photo) and both the horn and power steering lines needing to be relocated. However hardware to do this is supplied in the kit along with every mounting bracket and required nuts/bolts, which makes the whole process simple. No hoses need to be cut or modified. The front bumper does not need to be cut, which makes the kit easily reversible and does not reduce the value of your vehicle.Notice the finish is highly polished aluminium, but can also be supplied in stealth black if required.TECHNICAL DATASTXR6T Intercooler -Core Dimensions: 450 x 285 x 73Core Type: Tube and fin low restrictionPressure Drop @ 300rwkw airflow: 0.6psiTemperature Drop @ 300rwkw airflow: 96in, 35out, 26 ambient. Couple of questions:How do those figures compare to the stock cooler, and...Does the kit come with really detailed instructions, with nice, big pictures? Street Tuner Member 727 Member For: 21y 10m 20d Posted 10/05/05 05:27 AM Author Share Posted 10/05/05 05:27 AM (edited) The kit comes with complete instructions (which is where the photos I used came from!) and is really quite easy to install. The core is Australian made tube and fin, not cheap low performance Chinese core like many others. Typically our cooler increases charge air cooling efficiency over the stocker around 60% - 70%, and reduces pressure drop around 80%. So, its pretty bloody good. Actual power gains depend on the hardware involved, but this cooler will still be efficient at 330 - 350rwkw. Street Tuner Member 727 Member For: 21y 10m 20d Posted 10/05/05 05:33 AM Author Share Posted 10/05/05 05:33 AM Power increase depends on a lot of other factors, such as the state of engine tune etc. However if you current have 300rwkw with the stock cooler, you should easily make 320rwkw+ with lower air temperatures using our intercooler.
