I was just wondering out of complete curiosity, when you option the 18" spare from Ford, what tyre does it come with?

I wouldn't think the Dunlop SP9000 would be suitable for the spare considering it's directional.

Yes, the spare is a Dunlop SP9000 and it is to be placed on the left side of the car. It is OK to put a directional tyre on the wrong side just not for long and don't do anything silly.

My front left tyre developed a bulge in it and the spare came in handy. Obviously since it was on the correct side of the car, I could drive it as per normal. I recommend to anyone to option the spare alloy.

yep, SP9000 - I got the 5th 18" even though I did not option it. I did option the premo brakes though, maybe that was the reason, or maybe my salesman was just looking after me?

Yes an alloy spare is a mandatory option with the premium brakes. You need a wheel bigger than the 16" space saver to fit over them.

placing a directional tyre on the wrong way wont do anything unless in the wet, if u need hard braking or cornering.

directional tyres are basically only for wet weather.. they just shoot the water fromt he middle of the tread out to the sides.
