Guest octane Guests Posted 05/05/05 02:26 PM Share Posted 05/05/05 02:26 PM Ok guys I test drove a manual XR6 the other day and I found that to actually change the gears I was having to put my arm at a funny angle due to the centre console..to all you manual owners was this just a case of me not having the seat adjusted right (and possibly the way I hold the gear stick) or did you guys have a similar situationthis is one of the things that is putting me in limbo between a SSS and a 5-speed...dave. The only problem I have is that the cup holders are useless for anything but cans. Bottles get in the way. Instead of grabing the gear shift selector with the palm of your hand; grib the shift changer with just the Pointer and index fingers, and guide the change. Dont try and brute force it like the notchy clunky agricultural SS.U'll find it will be nice and fast change every time unlike the notchy clunky agricultural SS setup... even if you do get the short shift change. The mark2 has eliminated this and is much better Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/17421-manual-gear-change/#findComment-250075 Share on other sites

However with the seat a little further forward (and the reach of the steering) it is fine. Mine is a six speed though - may be a different feel.
