 ...Cripes, mine makes a "whirring" sort of "worn-out-bearing" kind of noise after turning off also. I was told it is normal :gooff:

.........better get it looked at!

That is quite odd for these turbos, I guess there could be faulty ones from the factory but they are designed to pretty close tolerances. Things that cause bearing failure are dirty oil and too much boost... I can't see it being the latter! Bizarre.

Chips,

The turbo still keeps spinning for a short time after you turn the engine of and makes a bearing sound. That sounds normal to me. The miss at idle is more of a concern to me, as it would have nothing to do with the turbo.

Mines always made a slight noise when turned off, just the impeller winding down I was led to believe. Always change my oil at 5000km as well. Must really make a fair bit of noise if something goes wrong

Mines always loudest when I park in the garage because the sound reflects off the walls and floor, and there are no other noises.....it sounds

............There are no noises at all from it when the engine is running/has oil press to it.

Chips, mine is parked in the garage every night, concret floor, brick etc. (Where else would you park your T :) )

I have never heard a 'spool down' noise from it ever. Dont believe that the noise you are hearing can be good

All I can hear is the water boiling away as the turbo cools down.

It would pay to get her checked out...

Hey, what have you done with tango?

Mine's always made a slight noise as well, but sounds like a healthy noise rather than a metal-on-metal spine-tingling kind of grinding noise.

Trent.

Just thought it was time for a name change trent, something a bit more car related.
