I can only assume it's because the manuals, with the power and torque they be producing these days, are harder to get off the line.. Stall up the auto and some good 60' times are to be had....

The quickest times are run by autos.

Pro XR6 is a mates car I know which has about 360rwkw and is a t56 manual.Best time he can run is like 13 sec pass @ 125 plus mph.

On the roll he squashes my car and Jeffs car aswell but jeff has the quickest 1/4 time by a mile @ 11.9. Auto.

Not trying to argue it but autos have run the quickest times.

Cheers Fellas,

Sounds interesting, cause I know the ECU's also back off the torque and power when the Auto reports it is being stalled up, so you don't shatter the torque converter.

autos are quicker down the quarter...... am guessing the auto does not drop boost when shifting as the manual does

In an Standard T, the manuals DO NOT drop boost apart from coming off the gas pedal...If you keep the revs up during the change, you still keep boost.

In an Auto, the auto indicates to the ECU that it wants to change gears, then the ECU goes into "Retard" mode, similar to the Traction control program and drops horsepower BIG TIME so that the gear change can happen in the auto..

It must be the little bit of torque multiplication you get through the Torque convert for the first 10 metres that must tip the balance...

Hey guys just test drove a typhoon with the clutch fix and the computer flash, well from the first time I drove it when they came out I have to say the car feels so much stronger and quicker. My dealer friend and I connect the gtech to it and went on the freeway. To my amazment with my and him in the car both at 100kg each we managed a 1/4 time of 13.76 @ 105mph on a gtech, I didn't get the 0-100 to busy looking at the window of how fast this thing was picking up. I am pretty impressed now and will be placing a order in for a Shockweave Typhoon. THe 13.76 was done with a crappy lauch not the best launch u could do, but the clutch is so light compared to my T, everyone just stares at the car in shockwave anyway. Then we tryed again not to bad launch but had to back of cause the car infront was coming close and we managed a 14.2 backing-off before the 1/4 finished.

WIth one person in the car and a better launch there is a 13.5- 13.6 in this car for sure, just judging from the way it just pulled.

Imagine in AUto form these cars will be illegal hheheh.

are you saying it has been edited?

Dude, in stock form if you got an ideal launch the manual T will beat the auto by 0.1s over the quarter, otherwise the auto will pip the manual. Once you mod them this becomes more pronounced in favor of the auto, presumably coz the auto changes quicker than a human can.

Auto vs manual, blah blah blah - drive what you like best, just keep in mind that all the manual blokes think of the auto blokes as being soft. that's all  No respect for auto drivers, because the car is doing all the hard work to make the good numbers, not the driver.

On topic - The auto F6 will arive with a very strong 6-speed, so I can't see the torque tagging being in affect to a great deal.

Much like the XR8 isn't torque tagged on the new T56 hence the 13.9 it can now pull...
