Hey mate, I took my heat shield from the dump pipe back as it rattled to the sh*thouse, I havent heard anything since. No heat issues, no warm floor, I say go for it!

I would expect the under bonnet temps to rise without doubt. Whether this effects performance or not is another thing, doesn't seem like it from what others here have said. Heat sheilds are a good thing for keeping surrounding things cooler. Maybe Brian could shed some light on the reason why he installed one on his after market exhaust manifold.

I think this thread is about the exhaust heat shields, not the exhaust manifold/turbo heat shields.

My exhaust heat shield has been removed without issues. My exhaust manifold/turbo heat shield is still in place however.

yeah you are right HANRA, I am refering to the shield under the car, not the turbo/manifold shield in the engine bay.

The rattle can be fixed!, take a pair of pliers, slide under the driver side (may need a jack and stands) I did mine at the end of the driveway on the incline so could slide under.

with a pair of decent bull nose pliers, make your way along the seam where the 2 halves of the heatshield meet, crimp them together and even give it a kink, make your way along the seam, kinking / twisting every 5-10 cms..

fixed my heatshield rattle instantly! give it a try before removing.

I now have a high flow cat and different front section (3.5" back to first join) and no longer have the heatshield on this front section, I do notice a little warmer cabin temps and heat from under the car when you hop out. Nothing major.

this may have been talked about before? but I was wondering if there is a product out there to put in place of the factory stuff underneath the middle to the back of the car as mine is all bent and knackered and flaps around a bit under the car. I was thinking about something like dynamat but for heat not sound. I`m not referring to the stuff around cat and dumpipe. any info would be much appreciated
