Dude, I see Byrne Ford on the number plates. I would be interested to hear how you found them?

I still haven't heard back from two separate salespeople there trying to get a quote and delivery times of either a GTP or Typhoon. It seems that they are not interested in selling me a (expensive!) car.......

you're a very lucky man. Boss wouldn't let me spend that much so I settled for an XR6T ute in Velocity. I love the colour its a pitty that Ford discontiuned it before I could order the ute, cos that's the colour I wanted.

Enjoy your car, I know I will be when I get mine.

housing estates in cleveland??

I was in Cleveland a couple of weeks ago and could have sworn I drove past those houses!

Didn't you know that you are supposed to make yourself known when in Old Cleveland town.

I actually got the car through a broker so I didn't choose the dealership. Their service wasn't exactly crash hot ... by that I mean that I had to ring and chase them a lot because the delivery times they gave me weren't met. I'm sure that it wasn't their problem that the factory closed down over easter and they had a painted parts shortage but a phone call from them would have been appreciated.

Well that's what I got told when I went and ordered the ute. They have dropped Mandarin and Envi.

That's interesting. I didn't think it had been around for that long. Anyone know if there is going to be a replacement orange?

Give us an initial review of quality, pre delivery, problems, drivability, how many heads has it turned so far etc, what do you think of the torque, sound etc. Just the other day I had 3 monkeys in a magna hanging out the window at 100kmh on a freeway taking photos with their cameraphones from all angles, anyone'ed think they'd never seen one before.

Ok here goes:

Quality:

Quality is about on par with series 1 maybe a smidgen better as far as the interior goes. The seating feels and looks a lot better and more expensive than what the XR6 Turbo had and the luxuary pack really fills out the dash nicely. Love the starter button too :fool:

Pre Delivery:

Customer service from the dealer wasn't exactly great. Had to do a lot of chasing up to see when the car would actually arrive. But since the car arrived, they have been very good.

Problems:

Only real problem to mention is when the car went in for it's rust proofing, paint protection, interior protection and window tinting, the guys managed to break the bonnet release off the fuse box :fool: I have no idea how they managed that but Ford are going to fix it free of charge at it's first service. The only other thing is the drive line clunk but I think most people have accepted that as normal. It only happens if you don't shift super smooth. Not really worried about it at this stage. If it starts to bother me, I'll report it.

Drivablitiy:

This is probably the biggest difference that I have noticed. With my XR6 Turbo, when the revs were low you always felt like it was a bit sluggish. I don't know if this was only because it was auto or this is normal for them. The GT though pulls beautifully down low and really starts kicking at around 4000rpm. The other big difference that I have noticed is that the turbo really didn't accelerate that quickly between 100 and 200 kph. Not a great issue on the road but when doing track days was a bit annoying. The GT just keeps pulling hard even at high speed.

Head Turning Ability:

It turns heads like the XR couldn't. When driving on the highway, people just move over for you .. it's great :ermm: The car has an awesome presence on the road and I just can't get enough of it!!

The car now has nearly 500km on it and is getting better everyday. Don't know if I could go back to a stock XR. It would have to be modified to get me back in one I would think. :hay:
