Hi guys

This thread is very informative!!!

So you guys think its not worth getting the SS induction kits or anything like that?

Just get an XR8 CAI? Is there any real difference with the T6 one?

Thanks again

Yeah man , Give the SS Inductions the flick and go for the XR8 or Typhoon snorkel..

Ive read on older threads of guys taking there SS off and putting the other snorkel on..

Not to sure about the difference between the XR8 and Typhoon Snorkel..

XR8 is a bit bigger but the typhoon snorkel looks factory when installed

I think both the F6 and XR8 snorkals are the SAME - have a look at the part numbers I posted earlier - see any similarities :fool::k24t:

they are similar, but not the same. The XR8 is made for the Pod type airbox and the F6 is made for the flatpanel airbox like the ones we have in our T's.

XR8 snorkels are cheaper, but a bit trickier to install. F6 one is the go for any noobs like mysel.

I helped my mate put an F6 snorkel on his XR6T (actually my old car.) today.

Took out my one from the Buffoon to compare and take actual measurements from, cut 4 holes with a 25mm holesaw. Joined the dots with a jigsaw and whacked it all in.

I thought you may be interested to know that in the Typhoon there is an allen head bolt in place of the 3rd bolt with a bigger grommet in the airbox that fits around it to stop it moving about.

So when you put it back in the car the grommet just sort of 'pops' over the bolt and stops the airbox from moving. All very neat.

Have a look for yourselves.

The similarities are the "basic" number ie the number in the middle. You will find this number is the same on the majority of all Falcon air intakes. The only thing that will change is the first and the last couple of numbers/letters.

well, that wasnt so hard.

I measured out a template out of paper and then checked it a few times before I started cutting. The hole should be 120mm x 58mm, which takes into account the lip of the snorkel. Be sure to leave a bit of room around the corners as the snorkel lip is not totally square and is fairly small around the edges. trial and error, the snorkel will look kinda warped inside if its not sitting flush.

After about 5mins of fiddling, I went with aiboart's advise and left the 3rd bolt out, it holds pretty well with the standard pipe and snorkel.

cikas, If you havent started yours yet, heres the measurements I used which might make your job a little bit easier.

They are the best instructions ever! Got my Typhoon 2nd CAI from Nuford cost me $55 + GST. Picked up a KnN Filter yesterday for $110 shoped around was the best I was quoted. Installed them both last night. The instructions on here are perfect thanks Kaine!! Sounds great when you put your foot down! I got the bug again.. I did say to myself I would not modify this car at all.. but its just too tempting! Going to order and exhaust soon and probably an edit with the tax return thanks Johnny!

The phoon box arrived the other day and a mate and I are fitting it tomorrow. The snorkel and box came as seperate pieces and I was wondering how you get the snorkel into the inlet(leave your filth at the door :w00t2: ). Is it wise to soak the snorkel in some hot water to make it more flexible?
