They'd rather buy a cheap pos car then complain about ford and Expensive Daewoo going under and that the economy is screwed and Australia is fcked.

Herpderp.

Whether we buy an Aussie car or an overseas model, its not going to fix the problem that the government has caused and will keep causing.

Not so much Gillards fault, just the government in general. also the car makers themselves have alot to do with it. They want to keep increasing their profits so they source parts from overseas from countries such as china. So enevitably eventually car makers wont want to pay local workers high wages to assemble cars in Australian when they can import fully assembled cars alot cheaper, therefore there will be no Falcon anymore.

The USA do it already for their european cars that they sell, Mexico assembles cars like VW and Audi, and some BMW's. They are marked on their build plates that they are built in Mexico. Just as our VWs and other european cars are already assembled in countries like South africa.

If we all still went out and stayed loyal by buying local cars like Ford or Holden, the companies will eventually look to other countries to bring cars in as they wont pay the high wages here, all they want is profit.

Half the cars from Ford and Expensive Daewoo are already fully imported anyway. The Expensive Daewoo cruze is just one example. The ford focus is another

One one thing I would like to add, it particulary frustrates me is that a car such as an SS Commodore, is what..$45-$50 here? Why is it that the same car over in the US (the pontiac G8) is about $30k USD.

But when we have to buy a car from the US we have to pay double the price, ie; a Mustang. $40k USD new fully loaded, then here we pay close to 100k for a bare bones mustang which is labelled as a Cobra but its far from it, its a GT spec with no options.

Then our government added the luxury car tax on anything imported over $50k, 15% on top of the 10% GST. So for example a new BMW M3 which in Canada costs $81k, onces its in Australia and on a showroom floor, we pay around $150k

I agree with above governments fault if they wanted to keep Australia , Australian they would have stopped great wall and other companies under the parrel import law similar to the way they stopped a lot of Japanese cars over the years but their greedy and don't give a fark then use tax payers money to prop up failing Australian business , they failed because the government opened the gates to all these imported cars at cheaper prices.

Rant over
