I did the trip in the phoon a couple of weeks ago and I can proudly say that within 45 minutes of leaving the apostles car park I had to stop so the wife could throw up when I went there was no trafic on the roads, I guess that would make the trip quite dull if you had to actuall do the recommended 35k's around the bends because of traffic there are plenty of photo ops along the way, and to do it in one day you would go there via the M1 and come back on the ocean rd P.S. I did scrub all 4 tyres quite badly even though its only a 200km section of road, so its not going to be for everyone. As does this I have driven the GOR, but not in the TWould love to do this one. Absolutely Awesome - some great open sweepers, some tighter stuff - about 220kms of pure bliss...However I would suggest the following route...Melb, Bairnsdale, Omeo, Hotham, Bright - stay overnight if people like - this is a bit over 500kms...Home via Wakefield, Mansfield, Black Spur - a bit over 400kms. Some good sections of twisty rd and not so much traffic, plus the spur. Sometimes if we are not too hungover, will come back the way we came, as the that Alpine rd is just awesome...I am doing this run next (as in this coming) weekend on the bikes weather pending (about 8 Mbikes at this stage) - if any turbos want to come along welcome to join in. PM me for details... But plan is as above - staying in Bright.GOR is fantastic as well - particulatly through the otways and the river flat at Glen Aire, but on a week end typically lots O cars - not much of a bother on the Mbike, but a bit of a spoiler in the car.My 2 c - all good thoughcheers,Ben. Some great twisty roads through the dense mountain Ash forests without Volvo-Camary drivers & Caravans. Very scenic place! * Lunch stop at Healsville* Healsville - Marysville (Via Maroondah Hwy & C512)* Marysville - Cambarville (Via Marysville - woods point road C512)* Cambarville - Upper Yarra Reservoir - Warburton (Via Woods point road C511)Upper Yarra Reservoir - Good chance for a photo shoot at the lookout and to stretch the legs. Upper Yarra Reservoir is the third largest of Melbourne's water storage reservoirs. It has a capacity of 200,000 megalitres (200,000,000,000 litres). The dam wall is 90 metres high, 610 metres long and was completed in 1957.Facilities:Have a picnic or barbecue in the attractive and peaceful gardens of Upper Yarra Reservoir Park. Wood barbecues and hot water facilities are provided throughout the park. The wet weather hall provides sheltered seating, electric barbecues and hot water. This hall once served as a mess room for the dam construction team. Camping is also available in the park, fees apply. Bookings are essential and can be made at the park office or by phoning 13 1963. Large groups and schools are welcome, however organisers should contact the park office at least two weeks before the visit to arrange a booking. The number of groups are limited to ensure space for casual visitors, so bookings will assist in making your visit more enjoyable for everybody. Upper Yarra provides access for groups with special needs. Most paths are ramped and wheelchair access is provided to toilets. The park ranger will be happy to provide further assistance if required. Baby change facilities What do you guys think???Lets set another date some time soon since the weather is good to us. Rob...

April is a holiday month because we have Easter over Fri 14 - Mon 17 April and Anzac Day on Tue 25 April (which may mean Sun 23 April is out for some because they may also make a long weekend of that). I'm biased towards Sun 9 April (Sun 30 April too far away ).Any others for Sun 9 April?By the way, I'm happy to buy up big on snags and bread and tomota sauce, etc so that we can share a BBQ together. All others have to do is bring some money so that we can split the cost of the food evenly amongst who partakes of the food (of course you can BYO food and drinks - but it would help me to know who wants to take advantage of me buying up big on food so I know how much to buy).
