Hiya geea,

I think that if you were to make it into 2 seperate mini cruises it would get more people going along. I'd go with the first part and then after Chapel have a meet somewhere, possibly Caulfield somewhere for a chat. This would make it 2 hours or so and that sounds great.

I reckon that's a good idea to break it into 2 mini cruises.

So, what about a break at Caulfield Park (usually plenty of parking around the park edges) about 2 hours in. So it will be a right hand turn off Dandenong Rd into Hawthorn Rd. Good place for chat, lunch, photos and toilet pitstop. Might be a bit hard to access the few BBQ facilites as it is a popular park, but from memory, there are some take-away shops nearby corner Hawthorn Rd and Balaclava Rd or just bring a mat and picnic lunch.

Then on to Mt Dandenong for another 1 1/2 hours if you still feel like it for afternoon Devonshire Tea, otherwise, feel free to leave the cruise.

What to does everyone think?

I'd like to do a cruise up to the snow fields before they actually get covered in snow. Something sealed rather than dirt roads (so as not to damage the cars). I can do it in a day myself (long day) or we could hole up at a motel somewhere (at least we could then relax with a few beers and steak meal in the evening) and do it over 2 days. I must admit going through Sassafras indian file really stopped the locals and day visitors yesterday on the BB cruise. So I imagine the same thing would happen as we drove through other country towns along the way.

Mr Turbo and Kev XR8 ute and I were talking about Mt Buller yesterday. Phevor suggested he wanted to organise a cruise. Any suggestions for a trip that took in the mountains and would add up a few km's for dswiders? I also like Lake Mountain because it takes in Lake Mountain, the Black Spur and is close to Melbourne so you can do it in a day with lunch somewhere along the way.

Have you though of a trip to the 12 Apostles on the ocean rd.

the rd is one of the best ive driven on. I did the trip in the phoon a couple of weeks ago and I can proudly say that within 45 minutes of leaving the apostles car park I had to stop so the wife could throw up :msm:

when I went there was no trafic on the roads, I guess that would make the trip quite dull if you had to actuall do the recommended 35k's around the bends because of traffic :spoton:

there are plenty of photo ops along the way, and to do it in one day you would go there via the M1 and come back on the ocean rd :spoton:

P.S. I did scrub all 4 tyres quite badly even though its only a 200km section of road, so its not going to be for everyone.

I was thinking about a SA/VIC combined cruise as well. It takes in the Great Ocean Road on the way home.

Here's the link to the conversation in the SA Cruise Chat thread.
