How about the idea of having all of our T's lined up in the main straight of the F1 track with all the stands in the back ground. I've PM'ed JB for advise and suggested we combine forces to get volume pricing on the trip over. I've also suggested that we run 2 groups as the Mk I was 1 week and Mk II was 2 weeks and unfortunately, those times away would be too long for me. The 2nd group going over at the same time but only staying for 3 days, would do an abridged version (yet to be detailed). Mostly likely as described in my previous Tassie post but with a few more of the interesting spots visited that the Mk I and Mk II cruises visited such as the Cadbury Scheppes choc factory, Boags and Port Authur. That way, those who want to go over for the cruise but not spend too much time there can go and get an overall appreciation of the Apple Isle. Depending on logistics, the 2 groups may even meet up before the short stayers leave the Apple Isle.Mk II went in Aug last year, so I've asked JB when he plans MkIII to leave this year and what the prices looked like. I don't know any more than that at the moment but will let you know whatever I learn.Reason for that is Aug is bad for snow, black-ice on the roads and very short daylight hours during Winter! Hence, Nov is when they plan to go next.No doubt, they'll start a topic in good time.

Also, a lot of less travelled inland routes are pretty interesting on the Peninsula.Being the "off season" should have less traffic on the roads. Please let me know if you'd be interested in going and if you have any suggestions on routes or things to see and do. All suggestions welcomed

Some options we have are:- Maybe a cruise around the Castlemaine Daylesford area.- Someone suggested a race day.- I saw a past cruise that looked like a nice trip out to Walhalla (some nice twisty bits into the historic township). Some of you may remember it from several years back. Here's some info about Walhalla. It's near Mt Baw Baw and you take the Princess Highway to Moe to turn off to go to Walhala.Walhalla is a small, picturesque and historic mountain township in the Gippsland district's Baw Baw Ranges in Victoria, in the south-eastern corner of mainland Australia. At its peak, some 5,000 people lived in and around Walhalla, the centre of a pioneer goldfield that extended to the nearby towns of Aberfeldy, Toombon, Donnelly's Creek, Red Jacket and Jericho to the north and west, and Cooper's Creek, Happy Go Lucky and Jubilee to the south and east. Only a handful of permanent residents live there today, but in the last decades of the 19th century, it was the heart of one of the most vibrant gold mining districts in the world, and a major influence in shaping the prosperity of a newly founded state. I kinda like the idea of either the Castlemaine Daylesford area (nice smooth drive and historic townships) or Walhalla (some nice twisty bits and historic township).Any comments and suggested dates for our next cruise? I'd like to do something in May if possible. Edited 02/05/06 02:04 PM by EvilDaifu
