Wasn't someone on here looking to buy that F6? Started a thread asking if it can be detuned so he won't kill himself... Didn't end up buying it..

Pistons will survive all dependant on the tune.

Killers on pistons are

Detonation (ping). This will break the piston, ring landings.

Tempreture, Usually because of lean out. Usually the piston looks like its melted.

and General fatigue caused by excessive mechanical stress. ie. too much power.

With std pistons, I dont see why you couldnt get 550rwkw on E85.. The std pistons are a very well designed piston, Sure, they aint forged, but they are still a good. Reason I say E85 is because its BTU heat output is nearly Half of normal Petrol. So typically things wont get as hot in the chamber as it could with Normal Petrol or Race fuel.

You'll often see people talking about the cooling properties of E85, which holds very true. Given its becoming so available at the pump, I can see alot of people retuning for it.

Facts I've learnt about E85...

It runs cooler

The fuel is a slow burning fuel, you will never hear a engine ping on e85. I mean, if your a stupid tuner, I'm sure you can make anything ping. But, you will notice it will not make any more power on the dyno if you continuely keep adding timing.

To give a point of example. One tune I've done had 19psi boost, and approx 26-28degrees timing at 6000rpm with a standard turbo. More timing than that, and it stopped making power, add even more timing, it lost power.. But never heard it ping, and there was definitely no signs of it in the knock box.

Speaking with one particular E85 / E99 / Methanol tuning genius who travels between america an dubai who tunes high horsepower drag racing supra's, twin turbo v8's, you name it. He laughed when I told him about the knock box. He said I was wasting my time even hooking it up. Just look at the power output.

And the most important part, is E85 has the BEST smelling exhaust =)
