Would You Buy A 't' Again?

Phoon Hoon

I have read a many posts bagging Ford and the T. Now it's hit the mainstream press. I want to know: would you buy a T again?

Poor service is bullsh*t... it lets the product down.

I can walk into my dealer with any single problem and have it fixed straight away, I have a great relationship with them as they know what is expected and I look after them in return with the occasionally carton and alot of referals from my business.

Alot of things that go wrong with these cars can be fixed by the dealer if they are willing to satisfy the customer, even if it costs them a little bit of money.. Funny how the dealer I go to won national RETAILER of the year for Ford Australia... All I can say if anyones in QLD give me a PM and ill not only get you the best deal but ill put you onto the right man to get any issues you may have resolved... And no I don't work for this dealer, just respect them to do how they have looked after me and my cars.

I'm on my second T, didn't have any problems with my 1st one and so I took a chance and bought my second one, a mkii, 7 weeks ago and have had no problems whatsoever apart from noticing that it had slightly less power than my 1st one (an Edit fixed that !). My dealer is excellent (Strapp Ford Doncaster), and when I need a service, they even offer to pick my car up from my house, drop off a complimentry XT for me to drive during the day, and then drop off my car again at the end of the day (maybe it's because Strapp Ford are the preferred dealer for Custom Fleet who buy thousands of them thru there and so there customers get a better level of service than Joe Bloggs off the street ??).

Probably won't buy another T again as I like to rollover my cars reasonably frequently. I don't need the space (had a 2-door Civic GTI a few cars back), don't need the comfort (had a modified WRX 2 cars ago), I just like variety. Next car will be something like the Mazda MPS, Mitsi Evo IX, STi, 350Z or something like that.

just a little hint I got from the dealer and a mechanic, everyone I know who has one and pu*$#y foots em around town have had dramas in all shapes and forms, BUT me I hammered her for the first 10 000km's and never had a prob, and she still gets better every week.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Um the discussion here has nothing to do with that! I thrash the living crap out of all my cars, the recent dyno day proved my car made good power as a result. The problem IMHO is that they don't take too well to this kind of driving all the time! I'd say the ones that pu$$y foot around, would be the cars with LESS problems.

I have had bad service, warranty issues and poor build quality, but what else can I buy for the price which will do 0-100 in 6 seconds transport my wife and 3 kids and our luggage in comfort and safety and tow a trailer or boat when necessary?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

IMO that would be a very common reason of ownership. But bad service, warranty issues and poor build quality are just not good enough when you're spending that sort of money!

Dave it's not really your money your spending, so I don't really think you can comment!! :spoton:

In all seriousness, I think the build quality needs to be smartened up for sure, and there are too many variables. My dealer keeps saying that's what happens with a mass produced car, but pardon my ignorance, don't they use Mercs as taxis in Germany, and they mass produce them. To Germans they are like our fords only better built.

Overall not too many Warranty issues with my car (all minor) will buy another Ford again, as like Mark said earlier I too have 3 kids and the Falcon offers so much of everything that it would be hard to beat. Next car will be a Phoon or a GT.

I think that Mercedes just had a recall of 1,300,000 cars due to a build quality issue. I think it involved steering or brakes. :glad:

Geea. :glad:

I did buy another T

My first one was plagued with problems, ranging from rattles to brakes that didn't work (yes they stopped working when I wasn't on the track as well!)

It was the biggest let down I've ever had.

When it was written off I thought I'd give Ford another go, considering insurance is paying for it anyway.

This T is the best car I've ever had, I have a couple of niggly driveline noises (not including the shunt as I've got used to that) but that's it.

I possibly will be selling my car at 60,000kms on it's first birthday, and with no hesitation what so ever I will be buying another one. :glad:

I just hope the next one isn't a lemon like my first one :glad:
