Would You Buy A 't' Again?

Phoon Hoon

I have read a many posts bagging Ford and the T. Now it's hit the mainstream press. I want to know: would you buy a T again?

Never would by a Ford again to tell you the truth. T was a great car and my resons are not because I now have a M3 but due to the lack of respect Ford have for their customers.

The service was great until I took ownership of my car then it went all downhill from there. They try to avoid warranty work like the plauge and simply don't value our bussiness. IMO ford australia do not desrve to profit from my bussiness.

At this stage I would say I'll never have another Ford in my garage let alone a T! Rather take my chances with a Holden, at least there is a chance of getting different problems!

I've had a BA XR6 and now a BAII XR6-T and both have had many problems, most of which the dealers pass of as if you're deaf, dumb and blind!

I would agree that Ford is not the only manufacturer with dealers that give their customers the run around. The real problem here is Ford have a lot of work to do in the quality stakes. You can't expect dealers to fix problem after problem on every 2nd car that comes in because they can't build a decent motor car to start with! I would place Expensive Daewoo in the same boat here.

However, I still find the T to be a entertaining drive, even with all the unscheduled dealer visits :)

I only own the XR6 n/a, but never had a problem after 24000k's and would buy another anyday. Never had any dramas with customer service, I goto Bryan Byrt FORD in MAnsfield Brissie. Touch wood she needs a good tune, now but, run em in hard I say and you have no dramas, just a little hint I got from the dealer and a mechanic, everyone I know who has one and pu*$#y foots em around town have had dramas in all shapes and forms, BUT me I hammered her for the first 10 000km's and never had a prob, and she still gets better every week. Now she is ready for some mods, I think.

I'm also one who has suffered from Ford's lack of after sales customer care. They refused to fix the gearbox in my T3 and I promised them if they didn't I would never buy another new Ford. As a long term customer, and also "brand" employee (past), I though they might do something to help me. HAHAHAH ... all I got was (paraphrased) "we can sell all the BAs we can produce we don't care much about AUs anymore - we are putting that bad experience behind us."

Well good for you Ford but what about the thousands of customers still living with the AU on an everyday basis? How do they afford to just put the bad experience behind them eh?

Ford are great at turning their backs on customers - and so are Expensive Daewoo and Subaru and BMW, YES even BMW!

Having said that, if a good second hand MkII XR6T manual ute comes on the market next year I'd be interested in it for sure. I figure that if I buy second hand, I will expect and accept whatever problems the vehicle comes with, and therfore won't pull my hair out over unsatisfactory warranty service.

I only have an NA, but yes I will be buying another one as soon as the next model comes out in 2007, hopefully a Turbo or even an XR8.

Mines done 8000 kms so far and seems ok however I did have a few issues early in the piece, for the price you pay you really cant match the looks or the value that you get with these cars..

Definately yes for me! :ermm:

I have only 12000km on my mk1, and have read about a lot of different problems, but I am yet to experience any of them. Not because I'm easy going either, I'm actually very fussy and when I hear of other's problems, I check mine straight away. In fact I feel a little left out :ermm:

As for Dealers, I don't think it's got anything to do with which brand, but more to do with which Dealer. If you can find a good one, stick to em!

I was a Expensive Daewoo fan for a long time until BA came along. I made the switch and have not looked back. Have owned a few Holdens previously and yeah they weren't too flash but in reality the things that annoy me with my XR6 are just as fiddly as what annoyed me with previous Commodores. All in all I think they both are a good package and each to their own at the end of the day.

In my opinion it is the aftersales service that has let the brand down. Yeah sure quality can be an issue but geez we're driving $45000 Falcons not $145000 Mercs or Benzes. You get what you pay for. The brand has grown too quickly and the service will take a while to catch up. Unfortunately that's life. I'm not sticking up for Ford but I work as a Tech rep for a truck importer so I can see all sides of the story, believe me !

Having said that I'll get another XR6, hopefully a T this time and I hope its as good and if not better than my current ride.

My 2 cents worth.

Rob

Yeah Barry good point. It's the bloody dealer that lets us down at the end of the day, being sales service or parts, they can all cause a problem or 10.
