A New Addition To The Family

Hello,

The heading is not entirely correct. The situation is the GF has just got a substantial pay rise at work, but no car. She loves my car, so she's going to drive that and buy a ute for me. I think she will spend up to the $30K mark. I have seen one BA XR8 and 3 XR6T in the high $20K.

I have only just started watching the market. There's no hurry to buy, I don't care if it takes a couple of months or longer to find the right car.

What sort of fuel consumption does the XR8 get? What sort of money are people paying to insure them? I am only 24 so will get hit hard for insurance.

My preference is for an XR8. Will consider AU III as well. Prefer auto for towing. Can't be red (my car is), Acid Rush (GF isn't a fan) or Envi (but I doubt and Envi ute will meet the $$ criteria). Keep your eyes peeled boys. I'm in Victoria, but with one way airfares so cheap, flying somewhere on the east coast is an option.

Thanks for replies dudes, can't wait until the family is complete!

Antony

I have found an AUIII 250 Pursuit Ute, obviously with the stroked motor, sounds stock (which is good also). Has just over 50,000Kms on it. Going for $28,500, which sounds to me like a fair price.

Anyone have an opinion on the price, and, what sort of times would this thing do as a stoker? Its an auto. Would prefer a stroked Tickford motor to a a BA XR8 if possible.

what the hell does ya misus do for a quid? I better tell mine to pull her fcukin finger out!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Have you ever heard of The Daily Planet? It's Melbourne's most exclusive and expensive brothel.

Well, she has nothing to do with that, I doubt she would even know it existed. She actually works for a chemical company in Dandenong in purchasing and production planning. She actually gets quite underpaid for what she does, despite her raise. My mum does very similar work and is on more $$$ with less responsibility.

Just put my car in for the 45K service. I got a phone call from the lease company as I got home, my account is $$$$ in the negative from all the tyres that my car has destroyed (about 10 in 18 months - just through bad luck, one was only 187kms old and the inner sidewall split 3/4 of the way around the tyre) and the increased price of petrol.

Looks like a fun ute is off the cards for a while, so it looks liek an AU Marlin or SE ute could be the way to go. There is going to be a considerable increase in payments on my car, so less money to waste all 'round.

Bugger.
