I’ve always been a Expensive Daewoo man although my dad worked at ford but recently I purchased an xr6 turbo and I have to say I’m now definitely a ford man, love the car its awesome, I have a few questions though

I herd the official 0-100 stats are 6.0 in an auto, is this true

I have dragged an vx ss (225 kw which I should easily beat (on a private drag strip of course) but this wasn't the case I was wondering on some advise how to propel the xr6 turbo from 0 to a 100 in 6 flat ??

Should I hold down the brake whilst I rev a bit?? as I’m finding the ss kills me on take off as the turbo hasn't kicked in yet please let me know

Cheers

Not being an expert, but you have to hold the brake whilst bringing revs up to around 2000rpm or just under. Make sure you hold the brake real hard so the car doesn't move and listen out for wheel spin (reving too high). Doing this will allow the car to launch much closer to the turbo kick in rpm and will get you going faster. Don't do it too often unless you have a transmission cooler though

Stall er up to around 2k as per geesemans advice.

Any less, will take longer to get on boost, much more and you just get wheelspin.

Another method to ensure you can get there in 6.0 or better, get the Edit :nono:

It's actually 2.5 60ft. I never said I was an expert. I have only had 3 runs at the drags. Of course, this is something people should make fun of...

Like I said, you are a petty, bald little man Jeff. And you take every chance you can get to prove it. :k24t:

Anyone got a good way for a good launch with a manual ?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Rev to about 1750rpm, drop it slowly (well not slowly, just not instantly either) mash the throttle to the floor.

I find anything higher than 1750 rpm will result in smoking up the clutch, anything lower and you bog down...

With a manual it is all down to practice, I find a launch from about 2200 works well but it is very tricky to keep the clutch from cooking. But it basically comes down to your own technique and how you develop and improve on it.
