just wondering if any body has any info on the gas engine rods

They are stronger than normal rods and they supposedly cost less. Not as good as aftermarket billet rods. I've heard that the Typhoon has similar to gas rods but they are actually a different p/n (MS700 may be able to confirm or deny this)

I got hold of a BA gas rod (the one which is meant to be the stronger one according to part numbers) but it does not seem to be of any larger cross section in the beam or anywhere else compared to say an EA to EL rod. So its maybe a non goer unless they gave me the wrong part number. I think the p/n was BA6200B or C.

of course it doesnt but its still a cast rod. With some better metallergy they may get the strength up but by how much. Not a tremendous amount IMO. I definately expected a larger cross section in the beam area and it was just slightly smaller. But it seemed more meat in the cap area.

The EA/ED rod is shorter than AU/BA

Just because the rods don't look bigger/fatter, does not mean there not stronger. they may be made of different material.
