Well as we all know the xr6 turbo is fast but like most of you, I want the cherry on the cake and give it that little extra, with out spending big bucks or compromising the warranty in that case. I was advised by a dude at autobarn to install a digital boost controller. But I’ve herd mixed responses about this, some say it would be awesome other say it won’t work at all as the computer will reject it. So lately I’ve been thinking of getting this CAPA Flash Tuner, ( http://www.capa.com.au/xr6_stage1.htm ) which they claim will get it up to the 310kw mark which isn’t bad for under the $1300 mark and can always be programmed back to stock (esp when going to ford) what do you guys think? What would be the best bang for my buck! And is there anything else out there with similar performance but ……Cheaper

I havent been on this site for long, but these have been a hot debate of late..

There is a search function just up top.

If you type in EDIT + Capa you will have yourself a bounty of info you could read for hours on end!

That doesnt include a tune - which I would, and anybody else - would HIGHLY recommened.

You never know whats going on when you whack and out-of-the-box ECU tune in.

You'll need to add about ~$200 for a good tune.

Cool sounds good but what about the digital boost controller what do u think ??? dont even waste my time????

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The ford computor would have a dummy spit with the boost controller and go into over boost mod all the time.

Not worth the time or money.

Don't forget there are other options out there besides edit.

Talking to the guys at Bob Romano, one of my friends works there and has done many APS kits on the Turbo says that you can run a boost controler and all you have to do is replace the three sensors that measure boost in the intake tract with diodes that return a constant boost reading back to the ecu.

The thing is, you still need to alternate the fuel, spark and other settings for it to work correctly, in which case you still need a chip or edit which will control the boost anyway so its redundant.

Bob Romano's apparently use the diode trick when APS exhausts are fitted to cars with no other chip or engine management to prevent over boost and cut out. Makes for some rather large HP gains for very little money.

That is until the edit came out, since the APS exhaust will cost you as much, and not yield the same performance, or the same gain in total.'

Interesting non the less.
