With the luxury pack, Ive got 2 t/c buttons; one on the dash to the left of the steering above the fog lights and one on the bottom left of the ICC therefore I can convert the dash one to be a manual water sprayer.I think having a thermo fan on the intercooler would negate any improvements by hindering air flow and power drain when its on.A 4psi pressure switch might work but Im no expert so it might be effective after its needed like someone else has said. How about a temp switch on the ic outlet side to turn on the sprayers?Dont know the method but you need some mechanism in place to automagically turn on the ic sprayers during a power run especially with a manual.Max<{POST_SNAPBACK}>You mean like the one from autospeed? I thought that would be a good idea but you would have to have an overide switch, as it was said earlier you dont want to start spraying and leak on to the track Would be a good idea for the street thoughShane Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/16781-intercooler-water-sprays/page/3/#findComment-239983 Share on other sites

Are you saying the autospeed device works off a temp sensor? If so, can you give me a link, web site or retailer name to this so I can find out more. Seems like the front runners are the boost pressure switch or temp switch with a manual override. Can someone tell me where to get the Hobbs boost pressure switch from in Sydney?Max Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/16781-intercooler-water-sprays/page/3/#findComment-239993 Share on other sites

It might be worth a call to them to make sure. I am in the process of finding somwhere to mount the watter bottle in the engine bay.We are also designing a PCB circut that will allow me to control the spray-time (2 to 7 secs) and non-spray-interval (.5 to 10 secs) with manual overide and voltage regulator. The anti-syphon proved tricky. There is a nice spot for water bottle near the brake booster! The metho does several things:A. It decreases the water's surface tension and makes the droplets stick better to the intercooler fins rather than flying off in the airflowB. It lowers the temperature at which the water evaporates (effectively the flash point) which means that you are getting more effective flash evaporation... the principle that actually creates the cooling effect. If you want to know more about this sort of crap, I refer to Homer Simpson who once contended that 'In this house we obey the laws of thermodynamics'.Do a web search on 'latent heat of evaporation' and you will find endless reams of crap about the amount of energy required to convert water to gas. This is what you are trying to do when you spray the water on the intercooler. This large energy transfer in converting the water to vapour is what is sucking all the heat from the intercooler, not just the effect of putting cold water on the intercooler.p.s. Dont use more than about 25% metho in your mixture as you would not want your water spray to become flammable (I suspect that would be bad).
