So do I do the Geea water spray mod with a pressure switch or get a water spray kit like http://www.autospeed.com/shop/category_705/browse.html or something else? As Im located in Sydney, where from and how much?Regards,Max Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/16781-intercooler-water-sprays/ Share on other sites

Where do you get it and the other washer pump from? Can you override it if you want to give your IC a quick squirt? Is it switchable so its only on as required?Max Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/16781-intercooler-water-sprays/#findComment-239606 Share on other sites

AWW XR6T UTE Member 129 Member For: 22y 1m 9d Location: Brisbane Posted 06/04/05 02:04 AM Share Posted 06/04/05 02:04 AM I've just setup a water spray on my ute. I used the autospeed spray nozzle & vdo pump. I put the pump into a 20L water drum in the back of the ute, & I switch it manually using the traction control switch, this can only be done in the utes, as the traction control switch does nothing!I think using a manual switch is the way to go, its simple & you know when you need it.My understanding, the intercooler is just a large heatsink, & you need to cool it down before the power run. If you use a pressure / boost switch, you're cooling the intercooler basically after you need it.You can also get cheap kits from electronic stores, where you can specify the duration of the water spray you want, & how long between sprays, but once again it's a bit hit & miss.Using the spray it does make a difference, I think it feels smoother & more consistant power, it's hard to explain. I read someone was using metho/water mix...?Also Out of a 5L bottle how long does the water last with the setups you guys have done yourelfs?I looked for a thread on your water spray mod geea couldn't find one. I'd be interested to know what you did also. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/16781-intercooler-water-sprays/#findComment-239683 Share on other sites
ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 4m 1d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 06/04/05 03:25 AM Share Posted 06/04/05 03:25 AM The biggest headach with the water spray is most tracks will kick you off if you put any fluid on the track. The reason they use methanol/water mix is it gives a better cooling solution, but it is mainly used for water injection. Plain old water is fine. You will not rust the intercooler as it is alloy. They do make a difference to the intake temp.
